salads
I'm so glad to hear this. I absolutely love salads, and I was afraid that the salad, especially the lettuce, would be hard to get down.

Who would you rather marry?
My romantic love turned into my best friend. A decade or so later, we may not be as "romantic" (kids, stress, fat, etc) as we were when we first got together, but our "friendship" more than makes up for it for us. Unconditional love, support, laughter, and excitement to see each other is what keeps us going all this time later!

Pills...extrememly confused...
Thanks for asking this MM! I also have a daily horse-pill that I need to take, and I have trouble getting it down pre-band! I joked with my primary care doctor yesterday during my pre-op that I would need to cut it into 3s to get it down.

Unrealistic BMIs
You know what really bothers me. "Society" is supposed to have a BMI of 15 to 25 right? Well, my absolute lowest goal that I feel would be good for me would put me at a BMI of 24 -- the high end! What is up with that? If I ended up with a BMI of 15, I'd look like a skeleton!

What was your final straw?
For all of my June 07 bandsters... What was the final straw for you to finally decide to go for the lap band? Why did you choose it over gastric bypass?

How long did you have terrible gas ?
Kim, I'm very interested in finding out the answer you get. Though I do think a call to your Dr.'s office would be a good idea and perhaps talk to the nurse there just for your piece of mind. At least if it isn't the "norm", they can tell you whether you need to worry or not or give you suggestions as to what to do to relieve it better. Hope you feel better soon!

Monthly Subforum request
First off, this forum is absolutely awesome. I am so glad that I found it! I would love to make a suggestion to have instead of one long ongoing monthly thread that we can have monthly subforums instead. It is so hard to keep up and support the other members in my monthly group because we are so active (50 posts plus a day in one thread with many different discussions). This way we can all support each other more because we will be able to read everyones concerns and comments. Thank you for the consideration!

Donating to LBT?
What about having a "prime" area where there are forums that you can only access if you are a subscriber. This happens on another board I go to. We pay $25 a year for access to a number of other forums (where all the good stuff is). I'd love to see a real forum for my June 2007 banders instead of just having one thread. Also, perhaps some more non-banding forums if you are a paid subscriber so we can talk about other stuff?

Age when banded?
I'm 38! I should have done this 10 years ago!

What was the last straw?
* For me it was not being able to or wanting to be active with my two young kids. * Watching other families go on hikes, bike ride together, and go swimming. * I wouldn't be caught dead on a Water slide at our water park, and I know how much I would love it because that really is "my thing." * Having the terror on my son's soccer team ask me if I had swallowed a christmas tree ornament (the kid is a jerk anyway, not just with me but with everyone). * Not caring how I look anymore * Getting jealous of my beautiful, gorgeous 3-year-old daughter because she gets to wear so many cute clothes * Always feeling like "fat parent" when I go to school to pick up one of my kids .... the list goes on and on...

Smoothies (made for you)
Does anyone know if smoothies (like at smoothie King or Jamba Juice) are okay during the nonclear liquids phase postop? Obviously it would be the "slim" versions and not having a full cup, but content wise, I wonder if they would be okay or would they be too much? Maybe for the mushy foods phase? Also, would they be okay to use with the added Protein powder? Thanks!

Is anyone successfully just exercising to DVDs at home?
The only DVDs I actually got into were the Walk Away the Pounds ones. I'm not sure why because they are actually kind of monotonous, but they keep my attention and I complete them every time!
