I have been considered overweight most of my life but when I reached what was called morbidly obese is when I realized I guess I have a problem. Even though I was obese I felt pretty good about myself until I would see a picture. "Really that is me?" Of course this all didn't happen overnight. First meeting my husband was the start of my weight gain. We really enjoyed eating together and it was a cheap thing to do. Hanging out, watching movies and eating lots of food. Oh and then came the babies, one then another a year later. It's been 13 years and I couldn't blame it all on having a baby, LOL. Of course my husband gained his share of weight too but that made it more exceptable for me to be over weight too. Five years ago everything changed. We went on a trip to a theme park where he couldn't go on the rides with the kids cause he was TOO BIG! Oh the embarrassment he felt. He went home and scheduled a meeting with a surgeon and had a gastric bipass 5 months later. "What?" I didn't want to have one of those done. No way was I doing that, I'm going to do this all on my own. After busting my butt I broke my ankle and was laid up for 12 weeks while watching my husband withered away. We got fat together but getting thin together was not happening. I became very angry inside and was slowly drawing a wedge between us. Being the wonderful man he is he was not letting that happen. He loves me through thick and thin. I continued to fight this weight battle on my own. I now figured I would try the weight loss program "Advocare". I lost a total of 1lb after two weeks of following this diet to a "T". What the heck are you kidding me?? I decided its time to see a doctor. After some blood test I find out I have Celiac Disease. For those of you who do not know what this is I have a gluten allergy, I'm allergic to wheat, barley, oats and rye. So I guess its time to change my life. If you haven't read a gluten free label you do not know Gluten free does not mean calorie free. In fact gluten free items are so much higher in calories. So after much consideration of the cost of food and the sacrifices I already had to make of giving up some of my old favorites I might as well have the surgery. I'm now 19 months out and it was the best decision I have made in my life. I'm down just over 100lbs and have maintained my weight for 9 months now. I would like to be down 10 to 15lbs more but I feel good about where I'm at today.
