  1. marys, LOL about having your gallbladder removed! Good idea. I was thinking... because the family does know that hubby and I are going on a vacation, and the thing is I am a total picture taker. Mysteriously I will be bringing minimal photos back from our trip. What I was going to say is I got a bad case of food poisoning while we were there and I couldn't leave the room for 2 days. I think that'll work. And this summer I will just wear a black suit to the beach and try not to let any of my sisters, neices or mom see me nude!! I know it will be fine. Thanks for so much input and support everyone!
  2. The things that helped me make my choice to get banded. The lap band is completely removable. Problems? It can come out. Not what you expected? It can come out. Don't like it anymore? It can come out. Want more restriction? You can get it filled. Want less restriction? Have an unfill. I love these things about it. Recovery time is so much less than bypass. The scars are smaller with laproscopic. The other weight loss surgeries don't have options. This is just an opinion. Hope it helps.
  3. So what about those scars in a bathing suit?
  4. I hope it's not noticable. I just keep thinking about how in the heck will I fake eat? LOL Chew the food then spit it out? Not put any food on the fork and take a fake bite? LOL I will try the "I've decided to start eating healthy." My husband said to just say "I am serious about losing weight." I would hate for the comments and questions. Alot of people in my family think the surgery is the lazy way out. Not me. I'm psyched!!
  5. Hey Heather! I haven't started the diet yet... Friday I will. I stocked up on all the supplies last night tho. Protein shakes and Lean Cuisines are expensive IMO. Food is my weakness too. Just like you. I have to lose 13 pounds. How bout you?
  6. By the way. I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Nick's Wife and I'm from PA. Getting banded on May 11th in Tijuana. Not real nervous yet, and I know this will be the best choice I've ever made. Next to picking my hubby of course. Hi everyone!!
  7. For those of you who kept getting banded a secret and only told one person or so... how do you explain the new eating habits, not going to buffets and out to dinner, etc? I know my parents will notice and I don't know how to keep it from them around the holidays and stuff. My hubby is the only one who knows. My friends will suspect. Any thoughts?
  8. Hey everyone! Hi Buscove! We have a few things in common. My date is May 11th! Real anxious! AND, my hubby is from Hibbing, MN! Just wanted to see when you start your pre-op diet and say good luck!!
  9. SO when you say next Friday do you mean May 11th? Thats my date!! We can be sisters in the band family! Nerves are starting to set in. How is your diet going?
  10. HI granny! Mine is May 11th. So May is our month! One week apart! Good luck!
  11. MrsAEF, I have UHC and they won't pay. I am self pay. My friend, who had BCBS, had to wait over a year while she went through classes and diet monitoring, etc. I scheduled mine a month ago and I'm getting banded in 2 weeks!!! SO excited! I wish I knew a secret to help you but I don't. I hate UHC tho. J
