What Should I Expect When The Band Is Removed?
Very easy recovery after a removal. Sl. Soreness but you will feel better- no food getting stuck, no sliming, but you can grieve, too. Cry until you can't any more and then begin your future journey.

Dr Wants To Wait Few Months......
I had the same experience with my crapband. First, the fluid was removed. Then, I was scheduled for the band removal. My surgeon was cautious and wouldn't do a sleeve for one year. I won't lie- it was the second longest year in my life. I was sleeved on June 27. I am 4 weeks out and return to work Mon. The sleeve is nothing like the band. Revisions can be dangerous if done too soon. Listen to your doctor. You will gain some weight, no matter how hard you try not to. The average is 50#'s. I didn't gain that much. You can e-mail me if you want: joy686@aol.com. Good luck!

Made Myself A List For Stuff To Have At Home After Surgery....
Don't buy protein you like now for the post op period. Taste buds change. Things I loved pre op gagged me post op. I am 10 days post op. I returned so many cans and bottles of protein in exchange for what my sleeve likes now. I also wanted to be prepared, but it didn't work. Good luck!

June 27 is my date too! Good luck. My pre-op visit is June 14.- June 2012 Compilaton #2
That happened after band in 05. It is swelling, IV fluid, etc. don't weigh until your 2 week post op visit, if you can. You will be pleased. Glad it went well. Follow all rules you were taught to prepare for this. YOU DID IT!- Pre Surgery And Not Losing
- Pre Surgery And Not Losing
Am worried that my surgeon will cancel my revision surgery. The Preop bariatrician asked if I could lose 5-10 pounds before surgery. Of course, I said yes. I immediately put myself on a 1200 cal diet. I know it is accurate because I am a diabetes nurse educator. My nut said because I am only 4 foot 10, 1200 cals is too much. So, tomorrow I begin a shake and yogurt for breakfast and lunch and all protein for dinner. No more than 1000 cals for one week. I see the surgeon June 14 and surgery is the 27th. I can do this!!! Right??? Did anyone else have this problem? I feel like a failure and have tried so hard for 5 weeks. She said 1200 is maintenance for me. UGH!!- June 2012 Compilaton #2
Whomever lists the names and dates, could you please add to My name for 6-27 that my surgeon is Edward Mun and I am a revision. Thanks.- Pre-Op Diet. How Does It Work?
When you take in very few carbs, your liver releases stored carbs in the form of glycogen. Glycogen stores increase liver size. A large liver makes it hard for surgeons to do surgery on the stomach. Good luck. In the past and occasionally now, they go in to do the surgery and can't. They suture you back up and you have to do a high protein diet. Without the protein, your body burns muscle to feed the brain. Then, you have to go back to surgery for the actual VSG.- Tracking Food Post-Op

Congrats. I am sure you and I have a lot of the same feelings and emotions. Keep in touch.- New Band To Sleever Here
My band was removed June 2011 and my revision is 6-27. I was 213 and down to 134. Now I am 170. I hate it. Can't lose despite following a very strict 1200 cal diet. Can't wait to be on the losing team. Congrats to all revision people!!- Kaiser Preop Diet
I have been faithfully following the 1200 cal diet, a little behind on the exercise, getting in water and protein and had a visit with the primary at 1:00pm. I weighed myself in advance and gained 2 lbs. I know what I am doing because I am a nurse and specialize in diabetes. The doctor (not the surgeon) said not to worry about the numbers. He said to keep at it. I know I will lose during the 2 week liq protein portion, but my fear is he will cancel surgery. I am a one year out lapband failure and was down to 134 lbs. Now, I am 170. Pre any procedure-213 lbs and 4 ft 10 inches. I had to go up 2 sizes. This site helps me because you all know this battle. My family is supportive. My co-workers are amazed at my willpower but it just isn't working. It is like my body likes being FAT! UGH!- Kaiser Preop Diet

Thank you sooooo much! I am faithfully doing 1200 cals now and will do whatever his orders are. I track it on My Fitness Pal. Tomorrow, I see my primary for medication adjustments for after surgery. Joyce- Kaiser Preop Diet

My surgery is 6-27. I see the surgeon, Dr Mun in South Bay 6-14. Are there any KP VSG patients that know what Kaiser demands for the 2 week pre surgery diet? Thank you. I use Worldwide Pure Protein and Unjury broth. Do they allow SF Popsicles, jello, veggies, etc?- Lap Band Users Switching To Sleeve
My band was placed slightly high. I couldn't tolerate fills, very many foods and vomited frequently. Then, it slipped and was on the esophagus. The esophagus was almost eroded when they surgically removed the band. It was removed one year ago. My VSG is scheduled for 6/27/12. Good luck !- Just Got Back From The Doctors Office
Passed the psych eval with flying colors. Now we are on the home stretch. Does anyone know if Kaiser requires a bowel prep? Thanks. VSG on 6-27.- Just Got Back From The Doctors Office
Congrats and good luck. I am waiting for my psyche visit. It is in 2 mins. I am scheduled for 6-27. Last thing before pre-op visit, liquids and surgery. Yay!- Band To Sleeve
I was banded in 05 and it slipped. I had it removed one year ago June, and my surgeon would not do the VSG for one year. I am now scheduled for surgery on 6/27/12. I was really down when they told me I had to wait a year. I started gaining after the fluid was taken out initially and have gained. My highest weight was 213 pre band. My lowest weight with lots of vomiting was 134. I was 155 when they removed the band. I am now 173. I am sick about this but looking forward to June. I am even excited to do the pre op diet because I know it is the path to surgery. As for complications, I am told to follow all the post eating rules exactly to reduce risk of leaks.- Like Walking Over Hot Coals
Congrats! Your persistence paid off and will help others in the future. I always hand delivered everything to my surgeon's office when I had my lapband in 2005. I always kept a copy. It was amazing how many times they told me they hadn't received what I had delivered. And, I hand delivered it!!! Anyway, now I am having to have the VSG due to a slippage and am currently doing all my pre op labs... x-ray, EKG, blood, stool, 24 hour urine, etc. I know it is a pain, but will be worth it. At least Kaiser has electronic medical records. Once again, congrats! Keep us posted after your surgery. Joyce - June 2012 Sleevers Post Op Check In
