    Would Love A Buddy/mentor

I wish you all the best - I think you are marking the best decision ever. I am 51 yrs old and had the sleeve on 3/14/12. I did this to keep my good health and of course....lose weight. Like you I used to be able to lose weight quick...now it's much slower. I have lost about 30 pounds since the pre-surgery diet. The surgery was MUCH easier than I ever imagined. My relationship with food has definately changed. Eating has become a chore, I guess this is a good thing. The sleeve is not an easy way out, it takes a lot of work. If I can answer any questions, please let me know.

    Grits And Eggs!

I'm kinda disappointed. At my 2 week postop...I was told no grits for at least 1 year. No carbs at all, not even fruits. For 2 months nothing but protein....after that slowly add soft veggies. I guess I have to be creative.
  3. My surgery is 8am tomorrow, I can't believe it....trying for over 6 month, it's finally here. I only hope I can stop driving myself crazy tonight. Worried about all sort of medical issues that could arise....a little knowledge is deadly. On another note, I'm so excited to get some help for my weight issues. I'm 51 years old and I'm dog tired of being obese. I'm looking forward to some of my many future goals...riding roller coasters and planes comfortably, wearing clothes from the "regular sizes", and so many more.

    Grits And Eggs!

I had to smile when I read your post. When I got out of surgery, my husband asked what my first real meal would be. This is easy...I've recently had a craving for grits and shrimp. Can't wait!

    Fears And Doubts

I completely understand how you feel. I had surgery 3/14/12. It was so much easier that I thought it would be. The only real pain I felt was in my shoulders immediately after surgery. No pain medication since the first day. My doctor has me on protein shakes and clear liquids for two weeks. I take things slow and have no problems with liquid intake. Since I'm 51 yrs old, I thought things might be harder for me, I'm pleasantly surprised how much easier it was than I imagined. The only thing difficult for me so far...is watching the scale (I know that's a No No - but I can't help myself). The day I was released from the hospital I was 4 pounds heavier than when I went in. I know they pump you full of fluids...but dang....I didn't eat anything. Been home for 3 days and I've only lost 1 pound of that weight. Trying to stay positive on that note though. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide.....you're worth it.
  7. Today is my 4th day post-op. I weigh more today than the day I had surgery (3 pounds). I'm following the post-op diet and I have no difficulty getting liquids down, I take it slow like they said. I really don't feel full though. I'm starting to panic...thinking...maybe this is not going to work for me. I do have to admit I feel much better than I thought I would, I even painted a fence today. Am I normal or do I need to be concerned?
  8. I was told there were no driving restrictions.
