I have Anthem BCBS. I first went to BCBS.com and checkedn to see if my ins covered it and also to see who they were contracted with. Then I went to the seminar held by my surgeon, his educational seminar is required before scheduling a consult with him. During the seminar i filled out lots of forms and gave all my ins info. Within 24hrs they called me to let me know what my ins required for approval and all my out of pocket costs. I then scheduled my consult, psych eval and nutrition apt. Right after my consult I was scheduled for my upper GI, then a day latter approved for surgery and scheduled. The next week I completed my pre surg class and pre op tests. I did everything in a couple of weeks. My surgery is scheduled for this next monday march 5th.

So I did all pre reqs and got approved all in 4 days. That was about three weeks ago. My Ins company called and left a mess for me saying they would like to discuss my case. It was a RN who called. Has this happened to anyone should I be conserned or scared to say something that might change their mind.

Wow that's a lot of info. Comparing it to my doctors diet and rules you get to have a lot more than me. The book and diet journal he gives out is so much more strict.

I actually didn't ask any questions during my consult. He answered all of them in his seminar. It was required before any apts one on one with him. If you haven't gone to one in your area you might want to. Mine was very detailed. However my next apt I will be asking what rx should I continue. Some prescriptions, vitamins and herbal remedies must be stopped several days before surgery. I also will be asking if I can wear plastic retainers in my piercings. You can't wear any metal of any kind during surgery do to the fact the instruments use electric currant to cartirise the incisions. My only other question will be when can I lift more than 10 pounds. I have an infant and 2 yr old so that's a must.

Mine will be 2 nights. I think its has to do with not only the Dr but hospital policy. My hospital is graded a center of excellence. They seem to have alot more rules for gastric pts then some of the other hospitals
