Canceled 3 Hrs Before Gastric Sleeve Surgery!
You have a very good point. My Ins. might be a pain but now that I'm approved at least I know they are covering everything. I am really thankful for that.

@ TheNewMe2011 - I like that saying. Puts a nice positive spin to a negative situation. Thanks =)

Canceled 3 Hrs Before Gastric Sleeve Surgery!
@ jasleeve - All together with the phone calls and denial letters and appeals it was about a month per submission. So about three months of putting up with my ins. But then again I have BCBS of IL and I'm told they are one of the hardest to get approval from.

Canceled 3 Hrs Before Gastric Sleeve Surgery!
Lets see where to begin. I started my Medical Supervised Nutritional Visits in Jan. 2011. After completing my 3 months we submitted the paperwork to my Ins. I then received a letter of denial because the program was changed from 3 months to 6 months. So back to the doctors I went. Then after completing another 3 months we submitted again. Then I get denial letter #2 stating that I was denied because the months where not consecutive. So I appealed. Many weeks later I get another letter of denial. This time denying my HUSBAND who has NEVER submitted anything for surgery!! So I called my Ins and after many weeks I get a response... APPROVED!!! Yay!! So now I am scheduled for surgery on Dec. 5th! Okay so I get all the necessary thing in order. I wake up the morning of the surgery, jump in the shower when my phone begins to ring. And yup you guessed it! It's my surgeons office calling to let me know that my surgery has been cancelled 3hrs before my surgery because my doctor is ill!!! In the famous words of Charlie Brown "AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!" Now it looks like I might have to wait 2 more weeks!!! I am trying really hard not to lose it but I don't know how much more I can take! I've been scheduled for surgery 3 different times! And this time they even let it get to the surgery date before they pulled the rug out from under me!! God give me patience or Satan give me a bat!!!

Here we all are! Introduce yourself!
Hello there! My name is Olivia from Southern Ca. I'm 33, married but have no children (not for lack of trying). I also have PCOS and back issues. I've been researching WLS for a couple of years now but had not decided to go through with it until recently. I work from home and have become more of a home body (in other words BORING, lol) due to my back pain and weight. I hope to get back to riding my motorcycle and off-roading soon. But for now I stick to karaoke and family. As far as Protein drinks I have been having the hardest time due to the fact that I am lactose intolerant. But finally got a new one today to try out. Since my surgery date is Dec. 5th I'm hoping to stick with this new Protein Drink. I've been using sparkpeople and working out with a fitness game on the XBOX360 Kinect. So far I'm loving the combo! I'm really competitive so it's nice to go online and challenge friends and family not to mention have them lose to "the fat girl" LOL!! :biggrin2:

Third Time Is The Charm With Bcbsil!
@ favoredone - I hope you get approved right away but if you don't it's not the end. You can immediately appeal! Just call and call and call! I lucked out when I spoke to a very helpful rep who gave me her extension to call back and check. She went as far as to speak with the review board and show them exactly where the info they wanted was. Even with all that help it still took a while. If you hit a bump in the road don't be afraid to msg me. I still have the rep's # if you ever need it. Good luck! =)

Third Time Is The Charm With Bcbsil!
WOOHOO!! :party4: :party4: After months of calling and stalling BCBSIL has finally approved my surgery! It's a go for Dec. 5th! To tell the truth I'm still a little shocked. They gave me so many different BS excuses about why they kept denying me that all I was expecting was a no again! I had heard from many people that BCBSIL was one of the toughest insurances to get approved with and that most people get denied at least once by them. To all those who do have BCBSIL, stick with it! Don't give in! It only gets better from here. Divis

Lactose Free Protein Drinks?

Lactose Free Protein Drinks?
Hello All, I'm trying to find a Protein drink that is lactose free. I've tried some Protein drinks including some that claim to be OK for lactose intolerant people and no such luck. My nutritionist had originally suggested Boost Glucose Control but I didn't tolerate it well. Then I tried Ensure Plus and had the same results. I need to find something my body can tolerate and hopefully taste okay too. Any suggestions? Divis :help:

Well... here we go!!
I'm in the same boat as you regarding BCBSIL. I was ready to submit my paperwork when they changed from 3 to 6 months. I have just recently finished my 6 months and as of today am re-submitting my paperwork. Now it's time for the waiting game. I wish you lots of luck! Please let us know when you get approve. (Think positive) We will be cheering for you. :cheer2: Divis

Looking 4 Buddy/Mentor in So Cal (IE)
Hello All, I'm a newbie in search of some guidance. I'm on the 4th month of 6 months Medical Supervised Diet. If all goes well Dr. Rendon in Loma Linda, Ca. will be doing my surgery. I've had some set backs with my ins BCBSIL who is now requiring 6 months instead of 3 months. But I figure it's worth the wait. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks, Divis
