  1. When I was in the hospital they gave me Optisource Protein drinks they only come in strawberry and caramel flavors and they are actually not bad. The strawberry tastes like the stawberry Quik we used to add to our milk when I was a kid. I ordered them from walgreens.com HTH Kristi
  2. My book lists oatmeal, cream of wheat, crackers, Soup and potatos as foods to avoid at all costs and no fruits and veggies until your 9 months out.
  3. I am 2 weeks out tomorrow and was told I could start cheese, yogurt, scrambled eggs, Peanut Butter. I was 242 when I was approved for surgery I had to get to 230 before they would schedule my surgery I lost another 5 pounds during the pre op diet and today I weigh 206. I have been losing about 2 pounds a day.
  4. I agree, I think it was the grits. Even though you only got a few the grits will swell up.
  5. Good Luck George! I was very nervous and scared too. I have a husband and 3 kids and was very scared about the surgery. But I had my surgery on april 26th. I haven't been sick at all. I'm very sore but my family is taking good care of me. As far as diet I was told for two weeks after surgery to stick to one protein shake a day and 64 ounces of fluids per day. I'm fuzzy on the fluids part. I have been drinking water, crystal light and thats about it. For me the liquid seems to hurt going down but the shake is fine...probably because its thicker and it goes down slower. I was wondering if I could add broth as part of my 64 ounces per day. It seems everyone on here gets different information from their doctors. Hope this helps Kristi
  6. My pre-op diet was 800 calories a day and 70 grams of protein. So I would eat 2 scambled eggs for breakfast, a small amount of chicken salad for lunch and a protein shake for dinner and that totalled 890 calories and 90 grams of protein. I think its more about the protein so if you can substitute the protein drink for something equivalent I'd go for it. I had my sleeve done on the 26th of April and my doctor said my liver was alot smaller than normal and that was good because it gave him more room to work inside me. Hope this helps Kristi
