"So...what are you having for your last meal?"
I plan on eventually eating what ever I want just within reason. I have totally screwed myself in the past with fatalistic thinking. I AM hoping, however, that my cravings are significantly less with the sleeve.

This whole not drinking while eating...
This is the HARDEST habit for me to break! So weird.....I never thought it would be. I haven't been able to break it yet. I get the point though....I feel kind of chocked if I don't chase my food with a drink. I will keep trying.

"So...what are you having for your last meal?"
So, my husband has asked me at least 10 times "What are you having for your big, last meal?" I tell him that I am having elective surgery...not going to the electric chair. I do not even get this mentality. He acts as if I will never be able to eat food again. I figure that at some point in the future I will be able to eat things I want...just not in the quantities I am used to. I used to have that "last meal" mentality for years before going on a "diet". I really no longer think of food in those terms. I hope this is a sign that I have changed my outlook regarding food (I've worked hard at doing so the last several months in preparing for surgery).

July Master List
Thanks! The sooner the better for me. My doctor is so hard core....if you loose the amount of weight he wants or if there is any problem at all...he will cancel you on the spot. I literally got someone's spot who was sitting in the waiting room with me that day of pre-op. Helps me stay on track! :-)

Soooo encouraged!
I've had most of those surgeries as well. Glad to hear how well you did! I hope it is that way for the rest of us! :-)

AETNA INSURANCE
I received a letter approving me for the band, sleeve, and bypass as my surgeon had me cleared for all of them and left the ultimate choice up to me. I received the letter a couple of weeks after first visiting my bariatric surgeon.

Surgery Date
That is my date too!

Where is everyone?
I'm here! I go to my 3 hour mandatory class tomorrow for my surgeon. I have to go to the office first to get weighed. I have to loose 10 pounds before surgery or he has the right to cancel the surgery. NOT looking forward to that. I am really curious to get info. regarding the liquid diet and other prep stuff I have to do. I am feeling very excited at the idea of getting sleeved. I am excited about the long term potential. Good luck to everyone!

Off Work
I am no stranger to abdominal surgery....I've had 2 c-sections and gall bladder removal. So I thought I'd be up and around in a week or so. My doc told me to take about 3 weeks off of work...one week for pain and 2 more for light headedness, fatigue due to getting used to the new caloric intake. I might go toward the middle and take 2 weeks off.

How long did it take you to get approved?
3 weeks from first meeting my surgeon....I have Aetna H.M.O in California.

Aetna supervised diet
Hi. I have Aetna in California and am on the 3 month track. I had to meet with my nutritionist once, but choose to meet a second time a month before my surgery in order to be accountable and stay on track.

Feeling weak and light headed after VSG
I'm afraid of the same thing...so I am slowly reducing my caloric intake up until my surgery date so my body is not in such shock when I am on 800 calories a day.

Psych evaluation time frame?
Sounds like a standard Mental Status Examination....just to make sure you are oriented. Remembering the 3 words is part of it. Pretty standard.
