  1. Oh yep! I have them too. I get them still if I drink a sip of water (I am 9 days post op). I don;t have an answer. My doctor says that some of us just have more sensitive stomachs than others.
  2. Thanks ladies! :-) Tomorrow I get to advance to mushies and I am SO excited. I went shopping for my "menu" of black beans, melted cheese, and sour cream. Each day is a little better. My My goodness....the first week sucked. Thx again!
  3. I am 9 days post op and STARVING!!!!!!!!! I have been hungry (seriously hungry) since coming home from the hospital. Tomorrow I have been allowed to advance to mushies and I am beyond excited. I've never been so excited to see a black bean in my life!!!!! I agree that I things I will not have this terrible (headache inducing( hunger once I can get some "real" food in my stomach.
  4. Hello! I am 8 days post op and have a 5 and 7 year old. I had a lot of help (my mom and a baby sitter) for the first week. The first 2 days home after surgery I was useless. I had helped with cooking meals, baths, entertaining, kids, etc. I had help for a week with driving the kids around. Around the 4th day home, I have some strength to do some light house cleaning. I am now 8 days post surgery and will start driving the kids and have energy to do what I need to around the house. Good luck!
  5. It's called social attractiveness theory...a sociological phenomena. It's sucks...but it's a reality.
  6. My surgeon warned me of the shoulder/chest pain as transient pain. I can also identify to the gas pains. They feel like labor pains to me...they start, grow, roll, last a few seconds and leave. I have to hold my breathe they hurt so much. I just try and breathe through them and hope things get better soon (I am 6 days post op). Hope you feel better!!!
  7. Seriously....the only thing getting me through this week is the idea of eating refried beans next week!!!!
  8. Wow....you are really blessed. I had to stay in the hospital 4 days because I could not take in 1 sip of water.
  9. I am starving. I am hoping to be approved for mushies this weekend when I plan to tear open a can of refried beans. I hope I start feeling better then, because it has been horrible so far.
  10. Just bumping this topic up. I am looking for the same thing.
  11. I take a medication daily and was told to resume taking the tablet the day I returned home from the hospital.
  12. I'm a July sleever as well (6 days out). I am actually impressed that you can get that much down at all. I am still on water and can;t get anything else down which has me panicked that I won't be able to tolerate anything close to real food for a while. It is an adjustment to be sure. I am having a really hard time with pain and hunger. But just listen to you stomach.....it's all apart of the learning curve! :-)
  13. Me too!! I am 6 days post op and I think I have figured out the difference between gas pains, acid pains, and hunger pains. For me, the hunger pains are a rolling sensations. I think our brains and our stomachs are completely out of whack. Our brains are smelling foods or monitoring the lack of calories in our bodies and asking for food (survival instinct) and do not realize our new, baby tummy's aren't ready to handle real food yet. It kinda sucks for me to be honest. But I am CRAWLING along until the soft phase when I feel I can al least try and satisfy my hunger with "real " food.
  14. Ketosis....sign of weight loss. Tastes nasty, but a good sign! :-)
  15. I think you will get different answers depending on how far someone is out. I am 6 days post op and hate every second. Yep....I have major regret. Ask me again in 6 months when I've actually eaten a solid piece of food and have resumed a semi-normal life....and I am sure I will have a different answer.
  16. I am happy for you!!!! You look great. I am 5 days post surgery and am SO inspired by you!
  17. So glad you are doing well!!
  18. This is SO validating to me! I am 4 days post up and am having a lot of vomiting and pain...and I am starving. Right now I am really, really pissed at myself for having to be in a spot that I put myself in so much, excruciating pain. I am inspired by this post! Thank you!
  19. That little meal sounds HEAVENLY to me right now! I am only 4 days out and am so hungry. Thanks for sharing and I will try the same thing when I am allowed.
  20. Hi guys...just getting home and am very very wee. Stayed in hospital longer than expected. Don't have strength to review other posts. In a lot of pin due to excessive vomiting. Just reaching out for support cause I am full of regret right now. Need to know it gets better.....the pain and the hunger in contrast to my stomach's inability to keep anything down. Thanks!
  21. What a blessing! I hope my recovery is as easy! Can I ask....have you guys been hungry at all post-op? I am on my third day of liquids and am weak and starving.
  22. I can NOT believe I have made it this far and my surgery is at 11:30 tomorrow. It has been a long journey (a longer story for another time). I am weak and hungry as h*ll....really...the family fish look good at this point...and I am a vegetarian so that is a strong urge! :-) But all that said...I am beyond excited to start my new life.
  23. ME TOO!!! I am on day 2 of my 3 day bowel prep and am struggling. I am also weak, have headaches constantly, am cranky.......etc. We just have to focus on the long term gain! Hang in there!
