    First Fill

Hi all, I had my first fill Monday and felt fine. On tuesday I was in an all day meeting at work which was catered. The food looked delicious, poached chicken in tarragon mayonise, advocado, on a bed of cos lettuce with almonds and bacon bits. Plus a coucous salad with roast beetroot, parsnips and tomotoes. Well I got a bit carried away and had some of both - oh dear big mistake. I suddenlt felt the most unplesant pain in my chest between my breasts.........then I felt short of breath and the excrutiating pain in my chest increased. I rushed to the bathroom and vomited. This is bad enough but it was made much worse due to the fact that I had eaten beetroot - I thought I was dying!! I had to stay in the bathroom until the pain subsided. What a vile experince - but strangly after the event I felt elated because I knew that thew wonderful little band was working. The episode taught me a great lesson, chew chew and then chew some more. Take it slow and don't be lulled in to a false sense of security thinking "the band won't mind"............oh yes it will

    been naughty

I am glad I gave you some other ideas. I had my surgery done in sydney australia. I am british but have been living here for 4 .5 years. I love this country, beautiful wheather, great lifestyle and unfortunately great food !!! I had my first fill today - weird. It felt so strange, not at all painful, more like a alien sensation in the tummy if you get my drift. The Dr gave me a needle with a general anesthetic. Then he kept his eye on the xray view of my band on the screen and inserted the needle and gave me 1.5cc's. I then had to drink Water to see if I felt any uncomfortable restriction. I didn't at all. I have been advised to stick to liquids today, but can start soft food tomorrow - real food !!! Yipee I have lost 16.5lbs to date, you have done so well Kim 28 lbs wow unreal.

Hi Kim, Sorry I haven't replied earlier - first week back at work and it was all a bit mad.... I am going in to my secnd week of pureed foods and I must say it is easy. I have been having weetabix in warm milk with honey for breaky, or srambled eggs. Lunchtime I have had stuffing (the kind you stuff a chicken with) with mash and gravy. Or lovely fresh Soup, or sheperds pie or squashed advocado with cream cheese and tuna spread. dinner time I have jacket potatoe (only the insides) with low fat cheese and some baked Beans. Yum. I also started to have decaf coffee which made me feel human. In the afternoon at work I might have a skinny vanilla milkshake made with low fat yoghurt and skim milk. Oh and my favourite is a frozen yoghurt which is 99% fat free and has hadly any sugar but it tastest naughty so I love it...... My wounds are nearly all healed, I feel great. I am hoping for my first feel on the 20th Sep. How ae you going ?

Hi all, I had my band fitted one week ago monday 23 august. I have already shed 6 kilos, I am delighted, full of motivation and hope! I am still on a pure liquid diet which isn't too bad. I actually made a fabulous Soup yesterday with cauliflower, parsnip and curry powder and is is very satisfing even though it is in liquid form. Apart from the soup I am exsiting on fruit smoothies with Protein powder, yoghurts, jellly and custard. I must admitt I can not wait to move on to pureed foods next week. I can't wait to eat some mashed potatoe......... I was so excited to hear that one of you is actually eating sausgaes and still losing weight - I made the assumption that sausages was well and trully off the menu forever!

    Office food

Hi Leatha, I know excatly how you feel. I am dreading going back to work on Monday (been off work work since the op on the 23rd August). The office has 400 staff and it seems someone celebrates a brithday nearly every day and of course that is celebrated by either morning or afternon tea. The tea always involves massive cakes or mini pies and quiches etc. Then every friday at 4.30 pm the drinks trolly comes around with champagne , wine, beer and the worst enemy bags of crisps (chips) and nibbles. Worse still is that I usually work between 7.30 am and 7 pm each day, and sometimes due to tender deadlines I am stuck in a meeting room with up to 9 other people and we literally have to eat what is provided, we are usually at the mercy of our fabulous catering lady who will knock up whatever she can for us. food includes sandwichs full of fatty meats and mayo, or mini pies and quiches or worse pizza !! I have decided to take a thermos in with Soup, and some fruit. I am also regularly required to entertain clinets at lunch or dinner which can be tricky, however I try to stick to grllied seafood dishes which isnt hard in this beautiful city. K :straight

Thanks Marie, I agree, I have been very good and I suppose as long as I am aware of when I am being a little naughty then thats half the battle... Can not wait for Monday - on to pureed foods, I can hardly belive I am geting excited about pureed foods, but honestly if I never have to drink another liquid meal again it will be too soon! How much have you lost so far?

    banded Britain's

Hi Lynsey, Wow I haven't heard of the ballon, so do you have both now, the band and the ballon? I have lost 4 stones, at 3 different times in my life and then regained the lot plus more. I am sick of battling with my weight - hence the band decsion. So far I have lost 6 kilos which is 13.5 Ilbs just half a pound off of a stone. I have been walking an hour every morning though, and walking as hard as I can. I live in a very hilly area in Sydney so some of it is tough going. But I really want to try and make it a habit, so that every morning at 6 am I am used to getting up and going for a walk. I actually belive that if I had stayed exercising when I lost the weight the other times I wouldn't have this porblem now, however I hate exercise so I have to be really disciplined with myself. Do you return to work Monday ?

Hi all, thanks you so much for your rapid responses. It is so great to have people to communicate with, it makes the journey all the more bearable. Hi Shireen, in response to your question: I suppose my purees are not really purees, as I add lots of chicken stock and it really is like Water - but it has flavour. I also tried a great liquid yesterday, I took a tin of creamed corn, I strained it and added chicken stock then heated it up - yum. I think my weight has shifted due to my early morning walks. I have been getting up with my husband at 6 am and we walk at a semi fast pace for an hour. It is a divine time of the mroning here in Sydney, the birds are churping, people are walking thier dogs and I live right near the harbour park, so once we reach the park we have the glorious view of the Anzac Bridge over the harbour and the city. I am down 6 kilos now, but have now made a mental commitment to myself not to look at the scales until Monday 6th sep. Oh by the way does anyone dare to drink alcohol once they are on solids ?
