Hi! I am currently in the beginning process. I met with a civilian surgeon last week. Decided to go with the VSG and will have to go through Balboa. Did you have to get another referral to Balboa, or was the initial one sufficient? Can you let me know what the entire process was and how long it took? Any info you can share would be great! Hi! I am just now going through the process. Went to a civilian surgeon last week, who recommended the sleeve to me. He did tell me that Tricare doesn't cover this outside an MTF, and told me about Balboa. I am in the process of having my referral from my PCM changed to Balboa. Can you please tell me what the process was once you got your referral to Balboa? What did you have to do in order to have the surgery there? Any info you can give would help ease my worries tremendously! Thanks so much! Amy

Hi all, I am new to this board. I am in the beginning process. Last week I had an initial consult with a civilian surgeon. During my consult, the VSG was recommended to me. Because Tricare Prime doesnt cover VSG outside of a Military Treatment Facility, I will have to go through Balboa for my surgery. I am in the process now of trying to change my referral to Balboa. In the meantime, I was wondering if any of you out there have had this surgery at Balboa? If so, I was wondering if you could share your journey with me. What was the process? How long did it take? My husband is retired Navy, and we are new to the SD area. Thanks in advance for your help! Amy
