  1. My Insurance with my employer required 6 months of weight management and 8 days per month of an exercise program. During that time I slowly changed my eating habits, logged my food intake and saw the dietician once per month. I also joined the local YMCA and went to the gym 2-3 days per week. I started going to support group meetings pre-op as well. For me the weight management and exercise helped to make this lifetime commitment easier. I am 15 months post op and have lost 105 lbs. I continue to go to the gym 4-5 days a week and actually look for to exercise. I am able to eat most foods, but much less and I still continue to make healthy choices. I also continue to go to monthly support group meetings. This is a lifestyle change and with commitment you will be very successful with your weight loss. The time will go buy quicker than you realize!!!! Good luck on your journey.
  2. Seriously!!???? Is the op for real?
  3. I have two insurances, BCBS of MS which paid 80/20 and BCBS Federal which picked up the balance. I was blessed to have no OOP expense. I love my sleeve!
  4. Hi MrsSoMiss, I too am from Ocean Springs! I was sleeved on 14 September 2011 by Dr. Avara. I have had no problems and feel great. This has been an interesting journey for sure! I have been overweight most of my adult life, however, the past couple of years had gotten out of hand. I knew I had to do something. I began with my first visit to the clinic for their intro seminar in November 2010. I had my first visit with Dr. Avara in January 2011 and started my 6 month weight management visits a few days later. Looking back the months flew by and I can't believe the surgery is done and I am on the loser's bench! I know everything will go great with you to! You are in great hands with Dr. Avara.
