    What is wrong here??

Number one, your still recovering from surgery. You need to recover. You will loose weight. Liquid diets are just until you can tolerate real food. And you may not have any restiction without a fill. Number two, you must exercise. You can be tight as a tick and still not loose weight if you aren't exercising. Good luck!

    Non-Scale Victories Thread

Here's my victory, I bought a dress in the women's department!! Not the plus sizes!!! I must admit that it was a very stretchy material with a very full skirt to cover my still plus size bottom, but I was so thrilled the sales clerk thought I was crazy. And it was on sale! What more could I hope for?:mad2:

who's needs to rant and rave

Hey China, Have you tried on any of your "tight" clothes recently? (I am assuming you have a closet full of different sized clothing like I do). Or even go to the store and try on an outfit. I think you'll find that you've probably gone down a size. While you may not have lost much weight, you are building muscle mass with your workouts. Muscle weighs a lot, but it will help you to burn more fat as you continue your workouts. Sometimes the scale isn't the best indicator of your progress. Keep up the good work!
  5. Congratulations on your weight loss! Keep up the great progress.
  6. Are you exercising? It sounds counterintuitive, but I get more energized when I can drag my tired body over to the treadmill.
  7. I love my fill! dropped 5 lbs and down to 225! Yippiee
  8. I was banded on Dec 12th and have 4.8 cc in my band. I don't have any restriction about what I can eat, but I do feel full quicker and don't get hungry between meals. I'll probably get another fill to help me reduce my portion sizes.

    What did you eat today!!

I've got to share with you guys one of my favorite meals before and after banding, come to find out on the daily plate is actually healthy! Barefoot Contessa (Ina Garten on the Food Network) has this recipe for chicken chili that is absolutely delicious. I don't know how to put a link to the Food Network website, but you can find the recipe there. I love it with a tablespoon of fat free sour cream on top. :scared2:

    Butter Tub Savers

Okay, I have to be the safety police here. Its not safe to reheat food in those plastic containers in the microwave. Nasty chemicals leech out of the plastic and into the food. I still use some to store in the fridge, but I put the food on a plate to reheat. I'm gradually replacing all the plastic containers with pyrex containers.
  11. I gained a pound. I kept hoping it was water weight, but its still there. I've been neglecting the treadmill and its way too cold to go outside. Monday is my fill! So for this week, I'm at 231.
  12. Hey Pete, you betcha water weight can add five pounds. I can do that just be eating something salty, like pretzels or pizza. the next day I've gained a guaranteed 2 to 3 lbs. You've been doing great and with all the exercise you've been getting a couple of poor food choices aren't going to be a permanent setback. For me, the ability to occasionally eat something not so healthy, was a big part of my decision to get banded. I don't want to be told I can never eat a certain food again. Everything in moderation, right? So keep up the exercising, make 98% of the right food choices and keep on getting healthy!:yikes:

I have a supply of Kashi bars at work that I can grab and eat on my way home so I'm not starving when I get there.

    OMG I got "stuck"

I did it this weekend. I was trying to rush out of the house but knew I had to eat something for lunch. I scarfed down two slices of deli roast beef wrapped inside two slices of cheese. The pain was immediate and unbearable. Somehow I remembered reading here about bending over and it worked! With so little restriction now its easy to forget to slow down and chew, chew, chew. Hopefully this will change next week.

    What did you eat today!!

The greek yogurt I like is Fage brand. It comes in whole, 2% and fat free options. I can buy it at Ukrop's (the local grocery store) and I've seen it at Whole Foods as well. Its delicious.
  16. I haven't lost anything last week. But at one point last week the scale actually had me gaining two pounds!!! At least I broke even by the end of the week. Monday the 19th is my first fill and I can't wait. I need help.

Is it normal I can eat this?

I don't know if its normal or not, but I can eat a boneless thick cut pork chop. I haven't gotten a fill yet, so I'm hoping for more restriction. I chew the meat really well, but haven't had a problem with most things. I get my fill on the 19th and I can't wait!
  19. redmom

    Restriction with no fills?

I wish! I feel almost like before I was banded. I can eat anything and more than I should. So far I've been making much better choices about what to eat, but it isn't easy. I want help! I get my first fill on the 19th and I'd love to eat these words!

    What did you eat today!!

Hey China, no problems with the biscotti. Really, the only problem I've had so far was with a grilled chicken salad. I think I gulped it down without chewing the chicken enough. Today was much better; Breakfast 1/2 c. greek yogurt, 1/3 c. frozen berries, 1tbsp. honey lunch green salad with two slices of deli roast beef, gorgonzola cheese and 2tbsp. of italian dressing dinner 1/2 chicken breast (breaded and sauted in olive oil :tongue2:) with a mixed green salad tossed with lemon vinagrette on top. Snack 3x biscotti.
  22. :thumbup:Fla Pete and Veronica, can I just give a shout out to Mary Washington (College before it was a University)!!!! I'm in Richmond, went to college in Fredericksburg, a long, long time ago. Back when we used to have snow.

    What did you eat today!!

Hey Goosefrabra, you sound like me, trying to get some flavor. I want to put pesto on anything to give it some taste. Unfortunately, I have practically no restriction and can eat more than 1/2 a cup at a meal. Today I had greek yougurt for the first time and loved it! And tons of Protein to boot and it tastes way better than the nasty kashi high protein and Fiber oatmeal I had been eating for Breakfast. So here's my list: Breakfast: 1/2 c. greek yogurt w/ 1/2 c. frozen berries and tbsp honey Lunch: 2 slices homemade pizza (made the dough, made the sauce, small amount of cheese the only topping) Snack: biscotti Dinner: 1/2 baked chicken breast w/ roasted carrots, parsnips and potatos Snack: 2 more Biscotti:thumbdown: (They sound good, very low in fat, until I dipped them into chocolate) Tomorrow is back to work, where its much easier to avoid temptation! Okay, I forgot the midafternoon guacamole break. Tasty too. About 10 small chips dunked in.

    What to do??

I found this out by accident. Eat something salty, like lots of lots of potato chips. You will retain water like crazy. I'm not recommending this, but I did it unintentionally.

    Realize band vs. Lap band

I just got my Realize band on Dec 12th and really don't feel any restriction. I can eat anything I want, just not quite as much as I used to. I did have one incident where I think I either ate way too much or didn't chew enough and felt incredible pain for several hours. But other than that, I don't really feel any different than before surgery. My first fill is the 19th and hopefully that will change things.
