    Dr. Aceves

The sleeve was $8750.00 in January and the first couple of weeks in February for those they couldn't squeeze in and had to do in Feb. Now the cost is $9500.00. This is still a bargain compared to self pay prices in the USA.

    Dr. Aceves

:001_wub:I had my sleeve done by Dr. Aceves of Feb. 9, 2010. I did not do well with the anesthesia and Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos were WONDERFULL!!! They came to see me many times during the day and evening. Dr. Campos even came in 7 times in one day. Dr. Aceves wanted me to stay an additional two days so they could keep an eye on me, this was at NO EXTRA CHARGE. I did not want to stay and I did go home on my 5th day, 4 days after my surgery date. Dr. Campos called me the next morning to check and see how I was doing after the flight home. I could not recommend them more highly. You couldn't find a cleaner hospital anywhere and I have never had an American hospital give me the kind of care they gave me at Almater Hospital in Mexicali.

    Found 30g protein drinks

Premier Protein is the one. It is economical, you get 24 for $23.59. You can have 60grams of protein (30 grams each) for a cost of just under $2.00 a day. Then I just eat dinner with my family. It is so easy as well. No mixing, just grab and go.

    am I too old?

You are definitely not too old for bariatric surgery. I am 52, will be 53 April 14th and was sleeved on Feb.9th with Dr. Aceves. At just over a month I have lost 40 lbs. I am feeling great, not as many backaches and the headaches that have plagued me since I was 17 are almost gone. DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!!!!!:001_tongue:

    Sleeved as of 3/11!

I have found that the ready made "Premier" protein that Costco carries is really good and convenient. You get 24 11oz. shakes for $23.59. Each shake has 30 grams of protein. If you drink 2 per day it costs just under $2.00 and you have gotten in 60 grams of protein.:001_tongue:
  9. I had my surgery with Dr. Aceves on Feb.9th and I received the best care I have ever had in any hospital. Dr. Aceves and his assistant Dr. Campos came in to see me many times each day. The hospital is incredibly clean. I crossed the border with an enhanced drivers license. You can use these if you drive across either the Canadian or Mexican border. You guys will do great.
  10. :thumbup:I just had surgery in Mexico with Dr. Alberto Aceves at Almatar hospital on Feb. 9th. I have never had better care in any hospital in the USA. I saw Dr. Acevas at least 3 times a day usually more. Dr. Campos his assistant 5,6 and 7 times a day. The cleaning ladies came in 3 times a day to completely mop down my room, the bathroom and shower. And then they would go around both rooms and sanitize. Dr. Aceves is a member of the F.A.C.S.(Fellow of the American College of Surgeons) He has his main office in Calexico,U.S.A. but goes a block and a half across the border in Mexicali to do his surgeries in Mexico. They pick you up at San Diego airport and take you by van across the border. You don't have to have a passport if you have an enhanced drivers license and drive across the border. If you go on to Obesityhelp.com and look up Midwesterngirl she did extensive research before picking Dr. Aceves, and she has listings on how to research a doctor in Mexico. Good luck, it will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself.
  11. You guys have all done really well. I am at 33 lbs. at one month. I have had a stall of almost two weeks and was really getting worried. The only thing that kept me from despair was hearing from others that the stall usually happens at this point. The two of you give me hope that a few months from now I will be where you are.:thumbup1:
  12. :thumbup:I was sleeved on Feb. 9 and only my immediate family knew. I have just started telling people. I was sleeved with Dr. Aceves in Mexico and didn't want to listed to people say, "why would you go to Mexico, you can't even drink the water in Mexico." You need to make this decision for yourself and stick to it. Many people won't agree with what you are doing but you are the only one who has to live your life. You live in your body and if you are not happy with it change it. For you and no one else.

I cheated... i feel so horrible

:thumbup1:You don't have to be on a complete liquid diet. I too am being sleeved on Feb. 9 and am on a pre-op diet in order to shrink the liver. You need to have as much protein as you like but only 30 or less carbs a day. There is low carb bread and low carb yogurt as well. I do the bread toasted with peanut butter which is only 7 carbs per tablespoon. Kraft American cheese is 0 carbs as is most cheddar. I purchase my protein at Costco in the ready to drink cartons, they are 30g of protein. This diet is much easier to follow than a complete liquid diet and is the one my doctor recommends.
