  1. Hey Barbann, My surg is the same day as yours and I am nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof! Still wondering and hoping I am doing the right thing. I am leaving tomorrow afternoon for my 2 1/2 hr drive to hosp in Fla. Hope to be coming home Wed but I know it may be Thurs. Lets compare notes afterwards.
  2. I want to know if there is anyone out there that is sorry they had the sleeve done. If so, please tell why.
  3. I'm still a little (ok...a lot) freaked about the hair loss. Ya'll let me hear from you Please. I want to know if everyone loses hair and if it comes back. I have fine hair and I can not afford to lose 1/2 of it. By the way...thanks Tif for talking to me on the phone. I really appreciate it!
  4. I know exactly how you feel. I have had the same thoughts. I think mine comes from the fact that my mother in law used to be a healty sized woman....175ish. Now that she is 92, she is soooo little. I can not imagine needing nutrition at some point and not being able to eat enough. I guess it does sound dumb to some people but it sure crosses my mind! I am also concerned about hair loss. Will we have to drink protein shakes forever? And do I need to be looking for shakes I like now...before surg? I still have lots of questions and I wish I could talk to someone who had this done several months ago. I love this forum but I would love to talk on the phone to somebody!
  5. I start my preop Tues...my birthday so my sweet family did my cake today. I must say I am getting nervous about the sleeve! I am concerned about my hair falling out. Does it fall out even if you manage to get in enough protein? I can not afford to loose any hair. I am also wondering how long you have to dring protein drinks. Is that a forever thing? It can not be healthy if you loose your hair can it? (Like I am healthy now)
  6. I got my date today. Dec. 29th! I started my 2 week diet Tues just in case they could do it sooner and boy was I in an ill mood yesterday. It makes me not want to eat carbs or sugar anyway. If something can do that to your body, it must not be very good for you!
  7. I am wondering about telling friends and co-workers about having this kind of surgery. Did you tell? Why or why not?
  8. I should get a surg date tomorrow or Monday. I started my pre=op diet Tues and it is really doing a number on me today. I sure hope it gets easier. I know I am a little afraid of the surgery. Sometimes I still wonder if I am doing the right thing. Obviously we all love to eat or we would not be where we are today, right? Surely you that have already had the surgery had some apprehension too. I wonder how it will be. I mean should I NEVER eat anything really goos again?
  9. I would like to know if any of you have had complications. Leaks or heartburn or nauseu? I wonder how old you are too because I am concerned about my skin. I am 50 and losing wt fast could be really bad on my skin. I do not have the bucks for plastics.
  10. I am working w novus too. I was reading some of the other forums and read about people being nauseated and having acid reflux after the sleeve. Does everyone have this?
  11. OK I have not had the sleeve yet. Tell me about the staples. Do they just stay there forever or are they some special material that disolves?
  12. Do any of you ever go to the sleeve chat room? I have not found anyone in there yet
  13. Thank all of you so much! You have helped me a lot. It is so nice to be able to talk to someone who has been where I am. Still deciding but I feel that I am leaning that way. I would really like to decide by Monday about the sleeve. I have already done the 6 mths of weight loss program w a physician and my last of 6 months w the psychologist will be Tuesday. I was going for the the band when I heard about the sleeve at a seminar. Why did you all decide on the sleeve vs the band? Do ya'll know anyone who is sorry they did either of these procedures?
  14. I feel your pain! I have not yet made the decision to go ahead and have the sleeve. This is the first truly elective surgery I will have ever had although I have had plenty of others surgeries. Here are a few of my concerns: I weigh 223 lbs with a bmi of 34.9 - My ins is only paying for this because I am on high chol medicine and they told me if I loose any wt at all, I will not qualify. Am I rushing into this? :confused1: All I know is the more I try to loose wt the bigger I seem to get. I do not want to get any bigger. I also have some concerns that I know are kinda crazy but I can;t seem to help like....(are you ready for this) What if someone gets really sick like a cancer or something and needs to be able to eat more? What would happen if a person got stomach cancer and needed to have the cancerous part taken out but the stomach is so small now that there is really nothing to remove? Realistically I know this is dumb but the questions are there. I do have other bone problems that I know losing wt would help. I have had both knees operated on and have 2 artificail hips. I fear even posting this so ya'll please take it easy on me! I am not usually a neg person. I just keep having these questions.
