  1. I have tried to quit so many times but failed miserably. My husband smokes so its very hard when I see him smoking. Maybe this time will be different. This is the first time I have a reason that motivates me. I'm still planing to call the Dr on Monday to confirm so I will post what the result is then. Who knows I may quit even if they don't require. I know it is the best thing to do it will only make the healthier
  2. Is that the electronic cigarettes I've seen advertised? Where do you purchase?
  3. I guess I will be calling the office on Monday morning to find this out for sure. They close early on Fridays. Ugh I hope they don't require 8 weeks because they said my surgery is going to mid October but I will find out for sure on Monday. I appreciate all the replies.
  4. My situation is that my insurance requires 3 co morbidity factors if your BMI is below 40. I only have 1 that's been medically documented. I'm only borderline on another so if my insurance is to cover the surgery I have to stay at 40 BMI or wait for my health to decline enough so it kinda sucks. Also they do not turn in my final paperwork to the insurance company until my first appointment with the surgeon. So until that day my weight needs to stay exactly what it is. I was told today that next Wednesday they will schedule my appointment and it should be within a week. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I only have the next 2 weeks to worry over this.
  5. I haven't met with my surgeon yet but I'm doing meetings etc. I have listed on all paperwork that I do smoke approx a pack a day and have had no one say anything to me about it. I have found a few posts on here saying you had to quit. So can you let me know what your doctor has told you about smoking? I don't want to wait til I get any further to find out I have to stop. I'd like to know in advance so I can start working on it. I appreciate your help. Thanks
  6. That's a good idea minus the shoes they make you weigh barefoot but I will make sure I wear something to help.
  7. I have started my process, I'm doing support groups and have my Dieticain appt next week along with my Psych eval. I have to get those complete and then schedule the Dr appt. My situation is I am currently 40.8% as my BMI. My insurance requires nothing if your BMI is 40 or greater. The lady that I am currently seeing says I cannot loose any weight at all prior to the Dr visit and suggested I try to gain up to 5 pounds. Uggggh this frustrates me. I've been preparing for this for over a year just to get my mind where it should be and now for the next few weeks I've got to maintain eating bad food and try to gain a few pounds. Has anyone else been in this situation? If so did you have to gain weight and what did that do to your mental state? Lol I'm kinda freaking out so I'm hoping someone else has been there done than and can shed some light on it for me.
  8. I haven't got my date yet it's looking like mid to late October. I'm so ready!! Thanks for the encouragement.
  9. Wow so amazing. I hope I have success like that. Congrats to you!!!!!!
  10. I would love to find a mentor to help me get prepared for my surgery (mid oct) and be able to help me after also. I live in the Greenville area so if anyone is close it would be great. Thanks
  11. How do I get the weight tickers I see on so many post? Secondly I am always attached to my iPhone or iPad so if anyone can suggest some apps that are good for tracking weight, food & Water intake or anything else that would be good to have. I literally spent 10 hours on here yesterday just trying to soak up as much as I can. I have a bit of OCD lol and I can't stand not being 100% prepared. Even though I don't have my surgery date yet I want to be ready for post op in advance. I hope you have some ideas to share. Thanks so much in advance
  12. I do not have a date yet but I did get my list of requirements from the office. It's so crazy my insurance requires the psych eval and that's it. But the Drs. office has a whole list of requirements. I have to attend 10 support groups, endoscope, h pylori a test and abdominal X-ray and ultrasound and a ton of bloodwork. I had the scope ultrasound and h pylori a tests done in June during a hospital stay so they are trying to get the records now so I can avoid the repeat. I also am required to do a full 4 week post op Opti Fast only prep. I am not thrilled to find out I have to pay $125 a week for 4 weeks to prep for surgery. The do not give you an option of any other prep. Has anyone had to do the opti fast for a month prior? I'm hoping to get my date when I go in on Tuesday, from what I was told this week it should be around the mid to end October.
  13. I'm new This is my first post. I would love to find someone in the Upstate SC area. I do not have a surgery date yet it's looking like October. It would be great to be a little prepared and have someone to talk to. I don't have any support at home as of now, hubby is so against the surgery. Anyways if anyone is close id be greatful.
