  1. I wasn't really that nervous before getting the band. Maybe just a little nervous... but I do remember that shot LOL Did you get the revision to RNY?
  2. Yeah, it sure is scary going from the band to RNY. That is all that is on my mind and i'm not even sure yet if I'm going to do it all together and maybe just have them take the band out. I keep going back and forth in my head... am I ready for this? I was so gung ho before I got the band.. now, i'm that the surgery is scheduled and I pushed to get it... i'm like can I handle this mentally? Like i'm just not 100% positive.... it's hour by hour for me... LOL
  3. Good luck y'all...i'm a month out and i'm nervous as all get out. lol
  4. Thanks for all that. I need all the motivation I can get! This really does help..and I have to stop thinking about NEGATIVES and just go with it and RUN
  5. Thanks. He said by the looks of the barium swallow xrays and since that i'm not having any symptoms of a slippage that it is a good sign that I will be able to have both at the same time. But, that doing both has more risks...... I was so gung ho with getting the band.... but with doing this i'm not feeling so excited and unsure if I can go through all that. Surely i'm not the only one feeling like this? lol
  6. I really worried about doing the band removal and the gastric at the same time. My surgeon said that if there is a lot of scar tissue from the band he would have to wait on the other surgery. Has anyone had both at the same time? Was it really hard to do? How was recovery?
  7. awesome! Thanks! Im going with the RNY surgery instead of sleeve ive decided.
  8. That's the worst part about the band. I've heard the same thing from friends that have RNY..... it still gets stuck. I'm just going to weigh out my food and stick to that. lol
  9. Good luck ya'll... Mine is scheduled for Nov 5. I'm so scared because I had such bad experience with the band.
  10. Good luck! I am going to change to RNY... I just think that is going to be a sure shot that I need.
  11. I'm going from band to RNY and my surgery is scheduled Nov 5. I told my surgeon on Friday I wanted to get the sleeve. He told me to go home and research sleeve and RNY and if I decide to change just to let him know. I've been looking for people on here that had the band to RNY. Not much info out there.
  12. Nov 5th here scheduled for the sleeve, but i'm going to change to RNY. And, probably change the surgery day to a Monday if I can. I'm going from band to RNY.... band just sucks.
  13. I've done liquids for a month...the first few days are rough but after that it's pretty easy, at least for me it was. Just think of the end results and it really is all in your mind. I did have to take something to knock me out at night to sleep. lol The Protein shakes I took 5 per day were Optifast, and they were pretty good. I've tried other brands and they are nasty. I don't think Ganta's office sells them, so i'm going to have to find some. I've seen them on amazon.com and will prob do that. They are expensive though Let me know when you find out on the pre-op diet. I've never heard of one involving food.... do you have any idea what that is? I would prob stick to liquids also...
  14. I haven't read one bad thing about him. I like the feeling that I can ask him anything and he tells you all angles and explains everything very well and is very thorough. I may go with RNY...still debating. For now I told him schedule the sleeve.
  15. Yep, they really are. Do you know what type of pre-op diet he wants you to do? I guess i'll hear about all that on the 25th of October. I'm guessing liquids for two weeks. It's better than the month I had to do before the band surgery.
  16. November 5th for me..just scheduled today with Dr. Ganta in the ATX. Band to sleeve revision. Still waiting on insurance approval but it should be pretty easy as my insurance rocks and the band slipped.

  18. Can you tell me what your pre op diet was and for how long? I have Ganta as well
  19. I just called my doctor insurance coordinator and she said they have to schedule me with an in-network hospital so all charges should be in network and she doesn't see me having to pay 30% drugs. I'm still going to double check when the hospital calls me to set up surgery and get it in writing.
  20. Surgery is scheduled for Nov 5th! Insurance girl at my doctors office said 150 copays and 30% drugs... but, when the hospital calls me i'll find out if it's all in-network. So, I might not have to pay the 30% drug cost. It all depends on the hospital........ either way i'm just happy i'm getting the surgery and cost isn't really too too important.
  21. Thanks! How do you find out if everything is in network? Do you wait for the hospital insurance people to call you before the surgery?
