  1. I live in England and am interested where you had your surgery. I know that where I had mine done, they have a lot of clients from Scotland and Ireland. I had my surgery with The Hospital Group - Dolan Park - Mr Sigurdsson on the 15 Aug. Hope things work out for you
  2. I got banded on the 15 Aug. I am feeling really good now, particularly since mushy diet. Its 3 weeks today since my op, and I already feel I have come along way. Hope you are all doing well
  3. Hi there Sue i had my band surgery on 15 August, and also felt rough, particularly from the gas. However since having mushy I feel so much better. You have good weight loss, well done. We have got to stay motivated and positive. Good Luck and I am here if you ever need a chat.
  4. I had it with the Hospital group at Dolan Park with mr Sigurdsson. What about you? I live in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, What about you?
  5. It sure is, I have been on mushy food for a week now, and it was absolutely heaven after being on liquids. If I never see another milkshake in my life, it will be too soon!!! When did you have your op? I had mine on the 15th August. We are probably at the same stage.
  6. I bet you are, well done. I am due to you for my first visit and possible band fill in a couple of weeks. I had my surgery on 15th August. The surgeon placed a small band in and gave me 4cc during my op. Im finding that i am able to eat more now and starting to feel hungry particularly when i am due for my evening meal. But feeling really good now. I am feeing a bit anxious about my first fill though.
  7. Hi there, I think this is a brilliant site. I live in England, and there is not so many sites as extensive as this available. I had by band on 15th August privately and paid £5,000. It is something I had wanted for about 5 years! but my family were very cautious and felt it needed to be the very last resort. So even though I had tried just about everything for over 30 years, I went through another 5 yrs to prove that for me I can lose weight but then end up putting it all back on again!!! There comes a time when you either accept that or feel you are absolutely fed up and want to do something that will stop that disappointment once and for all. For me I had done a lot of soul searching and had accepted myself as a bigger person. My self esteem and confidence was not affected by my weight, because I have always cared about my appearance, I have my hair done regularly, visit a beautician and have nails done regularly and eyebrows waxed etc. However, more and more I noticed my weight impacted on my sense of wellbeing and fitness. My husband is a very fit man who takes part in triathlons, whilst I struggle to walk up hill. I used to be a fit person who was classed as 'sporty'. I used to play badminton, tennis, rounders and loved sport. This has become a thing of the past as it is such a huge effort when you carry excess weight. I have two grown up daughters, one is a community nurse and the other currently a trainee nurse. We have spoken extensively about how diseases such as diabetes impact incredibly on people. Unfortunately I have seen my older sister who is also morbidly obese been affected by this. She has developed diabetes and angina and problems with her knees and her mobility which has greatly impacted on her life. I began to realise that if i didn't do something about my weight that this would be my future. So here it is, I have had my surgery over 3 weeks ago and I am already lighter that I have been in many many years. I know there will probably be ups and downs, but I also know that I will be supported by my wonderful family, work colleagues, friends and by this site, as I have found it so incredibly supportive already. It is wonderful to have peer support from people who know what you are going through. Here's to the future, and thank you everyone already for everything you have shared. x
  8. What a relief when that happens Since I have been on mushy diet my wind has amazingly improved.
  9. I had pain under my left boob and in my left shoulder. Take some Windeze, peppermint tea or peppermint cordial, move around as much as you can. If you lie on your side, this will shift the wind and you should be able to pass it. Also a hot water bottle helps. It will pass though, particularly when you start eating mushy food. Good Luck x
  10. My stomach is also extremely noisy, especially when I am in bed ! Its obviously something I will need to get used to X
  11. I know it is awful. I have taken Windeze and Peppermint Tea and Peppermint cordial and like dawalsh suggest walked around a lot and used a hot Water bottle. mine is easing up now, I find it is worse when I am hungry. Good Luck x
  12. I am just over 2 weeks post op and when I have experienced that shoulder pain at its worst I thought I was having a heart attack!!!! i have found that since I have gone onto a mashed diet is is better, but seems worse when I am hungry. I believe it is something to do with the nerve in the shoulder and it feels like nerve pain. I am actually experiencing it now. To be honest this has been the worst part of surgery. I remember suffering similar pain when I had my hysterectomy 18 months ago and the gas pain lasted about 6 weeks then, so I am hoping it will pass. All the best.
  13. You are inspirational. You look amazing. I have only had my band for just over 2 weeks and hope I can be as successful as you. Many congratulations on a happier and healthier you
  14. Hi Newme I had my band just over 2 weeks ago. I am so glad I have had it. I feel it will be life changing. Being in control for once and hopefully losing weight and not putting it back on ! like I have done a million times. I am feeling so much better already and am at a weight that I haven't seen in years. Good Luck in your journey x
