  1. Good for you girlie!!! Good luck!!Thank you, Aaliyanah!
  2. So happy to have stumbled upon this thread. I was originally scheduled to get the lap band & recently had a change of heart after reading some posts from others that had to have the revision. I am so excited to be getting sleeved on Dec. 17th. You all have done such a great job with your weight loss and I cannot wait to be a sleever & start reaching my own milestones.
  3. December is right around the corner!!! Getting a little nervous.
  4. Good Evening MJM, Go to profile, click on the profile pic & choose from ur library or take a pic @ save. That should do it.
  5. YAY December 17! Me too! Who is your surgeon? My surgeon is Dr. Schmidt. I'm so excited!!!
  6. I am scheduled for December 17th as well. So excited!
  7. At 34, I am definitively party of the flirty, dirty thirties! Lol I am scheduled to be sleeved on 12/17/13. I am very excited to be making this change before my 35th birthday. I lost all this weight for my 30th birthday celebration & I felt great about myself. And I gained it all back as well. Now, I have an opportunity to make permanent changes to bring in the next chapter of my life before leaving my thirties and entering my forties. I welcome this experience with open arms and I am hopeful that it will create some much needed changes in my life.
  8. Met with my surgeon yesterday and he feels that it will be a better fit. He actually said if he was to get WLS, the sleeve would be his choice procedure. I am SUPER EXCITED!
  9. I'm not from NYC, but not that far... I'm from Jersey & will be sleeved on December 17th.
  10. VSG AJH, thank you for the support! After a long decision on with my surgeon we decided that it would be a great fit, although he thinks I would do well with the band but long term the sleeve will be less frustrations for me & it won't have all the possible complications associated as I've read about others that have been revised. I am SUPER EXCITED to get sleeved!!!
  11. I will be going out a week before break & returning the Monday after my students return for the New Year. I work as a counselor at a school based youth services program within a high school. For me it's basically now or never, we operate a summer program transitioning 8th grades into 9th grade.
  12. Today I met with my surgeon for a second consult. I originally met with him to discuss the band & that's what I was going to get until officially making an informed decision with my surgeon today. I am scheduled to be sleeved on 12/17.
  13. Thank you all for your advice... I am really leaning towards the sleeve, I think long term it's going to be what's best for me. I was talking to my mom about it & she's not supportive she is with the band since its a permanent surgery. She keeps saying u can't reverse it, they not going to put that part of ur stomach back. I said good, it's too big anyway! Well, I'm meeting with my surgeon tomorrow so I'm going to discuss with him thoughts & hope he can assist with giving me some more assistance in making my final decision since my survey is coming up soon.
  14. I am trying to weigh my options between the band and the sleeve. I'm scheduled for the band on 12/17/13 but I will be meeting with my surgeon for a final consult this Thursday and I'm having second thoughts. Can anyone tell me why they decided to remove their band and get the sleeve?
  15. Thank you Bright_Eyes, I hope it's not too late to switch procedures. My insurance doesn't require pre-authorization for Bariatric surgery, so that part should be ok.
  16. I am scheduled for lapband on 12/17/13 but I really think I want to get the sleeve. Can someone give me some idea of the pre-op requirements? I'm just trying to figure if I would have to go through some extra hurdles if I decide to switch to the sleeve. I have an appt with my surgeon on Thursday, I plan to discuss this with him, I hope he gives me some positive feedback.
  17. ccjll, thank you for your post. I am schedule for surgery on Dec. 17th & you have just out so much in perspective for me. You reminded why I started this process and the reasons I need to follow through with it. I have nothing to lose except the weight that has been holding me back from living the life I deserve, the life I want to live! It's not easy being overweight & it's something I've struggled with literally since I was born. I tried of being sick & tried. I lose weight, gain weight! It's just a cycle of disappoint!!! I'm sorry for my rant. Congratulations to everyone who has already made tours changing choice and began the banded journey. I also want to congratulate all of us who have taken the steps to begin our own banded journey...
  18. Mine is OnAJourney79. I haven't figured out how to add other through the app either.
  19. Congratulations Bandista! Praying a speedy recovery for you. I am hoping to be in your shoes in the next six weeks.
  20. I'm scheduled for December 17th, I'm excited and terrified at the same time.
  21. I'm a counselor at a high school and my surgery is scheduled for the 17th. I will be out for three weeks while the students are on Christmas break. I was reassured that this will be enough time off from work, although I can have up to 6 weeks.
