  1. thank you for the plain talk - i can appreciate it! You were the same weight i am now when you started, how many fills did you have, if i may ask?
  2. I will definitely bring this up next week when i meet with my doctor before surgery...Thank you
  3. holy crap - that would cost me another $3000! I sure hope it doesn't take that many for me...
  4. so how many fills have you had since the beginning?
  5. just found out my plan (self-pay) will only cover 3 fills. After that I will have to pay $200 for each fill. Wondering what the average number of fills needed to get to the green zone is for each of you. I know there is no one right answer for this so any other info explanation would help...

  7. I put something else because I wanted to select all of the above and it doesn't allow that! I can't wait to be able to take back my life!
  8. I joined!! There are no posts yet though...
  9. kool! I will add you to my list of band sisters!
  10. No pre-diet, my doctor says i dont need it but I work for a vitamin company that makes a secure soy and secure whey protein drink powder mix so I plan to start on my own the week before surgery to start getting my mind in the game. My boyfriend took me back to Minnesota to meet his family - I had a great time! I've been eating like I will never get to again after surgery though and feel I need to start changing my mindset soon so I'm ready again for what lies ahead!
  11. I would like to create a list of all who are scheduled for Sept 27th so i know who my band sisters and brothers will be... Can you reply directly to this if you are scheduled that day?
  12. I just returned from a week vacation and have gained 8 lbs! I'm hoping the 27th will hurry and get here! I am counting down the days...
  13. Yes i know...we were going to be band mates. I'm wishing you lots of luck in your journey...
  14. I'm so sorry irishflower78 about your setback . I also received my denial letter this week... However, I've decided to pay for it myself under a program where i pay 1/3 down and $100 a month until remainder is paid. I took the deposit 1/3 out of my 401k - It seems worth it to me - I'm investing in my health! My surgery date is official set for 9/27/13.
  15. It's an upper GI and it seems routine for my doctor. It was like an assembly line because many are scheduled on the same day and the surgery center here in Vegas...
  16. We will be band sisters!! I am also tentatively scheduled for 9/27. Just had my EDG on Thursday - they found a hyatial hernia but dr says he can fix when he does the lap band placement.
  17. You won't lose weight as fast as with gastric bypass but eventually you will lose just as much. By losing it slower, your body can adjust better and you won't have as much saggy skin because you can exercise and firm some of it as you lose it. Also, the bypass procedure has other complications like mal-absorption and risks of osteoporosis because you do not absorb the Vitamins, nutrients, and calcium your body needs. My sister had gastric bypass 7 years ago and she was a success - she lost 120 lbs but I was with her through all the ups and downs and she is a nurse. she also thinks the band is a better option for me.
  18. I work for a Vitamin company that makes a great whey Protein drink that doesn't have the fat and carbs of others off the shelf. Try these... http://procapslabs.com/Products/SearchResults.aspx?input=whey&sid=Alpha

  20. wow! glad to hear from you and sounds like you are doing amazing so i will be checking back in with you as time progresses closer to my surgery date for more encouragement! You have done amazing!
  21. This may sound negative to some, but... I have been researching weight loss surgery for about 2 years and just recently decided lap band is the right option for me. Looks like I am tentatively scheduled for 9/27/13 to be banded. However, even though I am ready for this - I know it's only a tool. The weight won't magically fall off, I'm still worried that it won't work for me. I still will have to deal with pre-op diet, post-op diet, and exercise BEFORE the fills. So many other diets have failed, if i could stick to eating healthy and exercise, i wouldn't have this problem with weight. Right? I understand that post-op I won't have much appetite but what about the rest? Anyone want to jump in here and tell me I'm not alone feeling this way?

  23. I am awaiting my final procedure (EDG on 8/22) and would love to meet others in my area who have had the lap band. More interested in people with starting weight close to mine so i can get an idea of what I will have to look forward to vs. someone more heavy \ less heavy than myself. I am currently 243 lbs and hope to get my procedure done on 9/20/13 at Las Vegas Surgery Center. Anyone familiar?
