Hi. I am in North Carolina and I have finally made the decision to pursue weightless surgery. My insurance does not cover it, so I will be doing self-pay and paying for it out of my retirement savings. I'm not sure where to start. I googled places that do "weightloss surgery" but I don't know how to get started. How DO you get started? How do you pick a hospital? a surgeon? Since insurance doesn't cover it I don't think being referred is going to be a factor. Looking forward to you all helping me get started and starting the journey.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I go about finding out what the cost of surgery is at different local hospitals?

Hi, I am in NW North Carolina and new to the site. I've been signed up awhile but just now have insurance that covers this. I am interested in hearing from people in NW North Carolina who had the sleeve done in Hickory or Winston-Salem or another local hospital. I don't want to travel to have it done. I heard there was someone in Statesville as well who may do that? I'm hoping for find references and contacts who have used someone local. Also, I'd like tips on finding out what the prices are at each facility. Hoping to hear from you guys out there!

Considering dr. Fernandez myself but haven't heard a whole lot on him. He's close to home for me.

I'm in Mt. Airy and just getting started. How did you all decide on what surgeon to use? I know there are some in Winston Salem close to me and I see Hickory.
