Worst part of the band so far

It's not a vote based on numbers...I was just saying that is what my Dr said. I even posted a pic of him saying it. He's pretty awesome, I trust him. Still should listen to your own Dr. Mine just might be more on the cutting edge of research. Oh schnap, I said it.

Well, now you've heard of it.

    Average weight loss

I want to lose it all overnight I gained a pound this week, I'm 6 or 7 weeks post op. I'm ok with it, but do admit to a little fear that I've topped out so soon. I know it is irrational, is just a week, and just a pound, but I'm kinda nuts. Keep working at it, you can do it. Slow and steady losing is still losing!

My dr posted in our google plus grop that that is based on old research and...let me go copy and paste...I don't want to misquote...

Will someone just move in with me!?

I love using my 2 year olds silverware, he gets mad at me though, which onky makes it doubly fun. My first time going out to eat after being banded was so awkward. I felt like I should do something between bites. I put my fork down, wrung my hands, and still felt so weird. My co-luncher suggested I walk around the restaurant...smartass.

I believe I had dissolvable stitches under my glue. I could feels things too for awhile, even had one poking out, but they are gone now.

Why am I no longer feeling full?

I was banded 8/27 and am the same way. I just assume that I'm not as swollen as I was and am getting ready for a fill. I still can't eat a ton, only about 1c worth, but I get hungry as hell all of a sudden before it is time to eat again, so I've started snacking. Snacking good though, a heaping tablespoon of hummus, protein shake, etc. Just keep at it and use good sense, I'm sure after a fill we'll feel closer to green and have to adjust again...and again...until we are just right. We're goldilocks of the bandland!

    pranayama

I am 3 weeks post op and back to yoga already. I think you should be fine as long as you listen to your body. If you are hurting, take it easy, if not, push on!

I added my coffee to my shake. Yum.

    Carbonated Drinks??

I am actually a patient of Dr. Simpsons and he now says no carbonated beverages. According to the nutritionist he says no to them now as it increases the chances of the band slipping. I had to make peace with this as I love diet dr pepper. I actually crave less sweets not having any.

    Driving

I take 10-325 Vicodyn 3 times a day and Diclofenac. They Dr was only going to give me 5-325, so I just told him nevermind. My pain management Dr gave me some extra in case I needed them for surgery. He also told me to not drive if I take 2 of them, but I otherwise drive fine. Even on 2 of them though, I feel ok to drive, I just don't do it though. If I take 2 I am in a lot of pain and don't want to drive anyway.

    Antidepressents?

Oh, and re: weight gain. I gained 100 pounds over the few years I was on zoloft. Switched back to prozac and started losing it steadily. I am sure they are all different, and even different peopl have different reactions, but for me prozac does not cause weight gain. Zoloft sure as hell does though. I switched to zoloft from prozac about a month before meeting my now hubby. I figured I just got fatter from being happy or something. Then I got pregnant and nursed, so that left me on zoloft for 2 years or so and my ob prescribed them. When I went back to my shrink we went over everything and hat was when the timeline all clicked and it made sense. I never really remembered or put 2 & 2 together that I started gaining with the zoft until I went back to my shrink, who was the one who actually switched me. Durn it.

    Antidepressents?

I take prozac just as normal. I actually am on 40mg, so I uave to take 2 20mg pills. I have about 5 pills to take daily and then I have pain meds I take for my back a few times a day. I take them all whole. I just have to take them one at a time and slowly. My dr office said if it fits in the cap of a water bottle, I can take it. And if it ever does get stuck, just wait, don't drink water ti try tk force it down, it won't work.

    Tylenol

I just take my pills as normal. Although my hubby can't swallow pills and I get him the juniors chewable tylenol and ibuprofen. He has to take like 4 or 6 or whatever, but the liquid tylenok is so expensive and awhile ago nobody had it during a tylenol brand recall amd we figured out the juniors is fine. Apparently nobody (that I could find) makes generic adult liquid tylenol. He just takes the same mg dose as adult dose.

    Driving

I drove the next day. I am on stronger pain meds then they'd give me daily for my back anyway. I didn't get any extra pain meds for surgery.
  20. I'm 10 days post-op and still on liquids. I have 21 days of liquids. Full liquids yes (OMG, if they were clear I'd be dieing), but still liquids. I don't get mushies until week 4. I am doing ok with this, but hearing some of you on mushies already makes me rage with green nasty jealousy. I want mushy things! I want, I want, I want!! Last night I got Church's chicken for the fam (I've been doing fine up until this point with them eating real food) and it smelled so damn good I had a major fitty temper tantrum, mad at the world, episode. My poor hubby. I told him it was probably the eating issue talking but he was pissing me off and listed about 5 petty reasons why. I love him so much...when I was done I look at him and said "And??" wanting him to say something and he just said "Ok", and then he helped me go through some stuff like I asked in one my petty things. Also, I made homemade Pasta sauce last week with canned tomato's, it was sooo goood, I strained out the onions and such, I was a good girl. It was delicious . I put some lowfat ricotta in the bottom of the bowl, a little parm on top, sauce on that, heated it up so it was all melty and it has been the most delicious thing I've eaten since surgery. I call it my liquid lasagna. Mmmmm. I also noticed that I always cook way too in bulk. I made a big pot of it to feed the family too and there is still a ton left. Without me to binge on what I make, I guess I need to scale back how I cook. Sorry for the rambly and such, it is Friday and my mind is on turbo

    Jealous of your post-op diet

I think it depends on the dr if they leave it empty at first or put some fluid in it. I actually can't eat very much, even liquids, and I'm rarely hungry. I think I have some fluid in mine and that might be part of the reason I have longer on liquids than some. I won't know until I ask him, which will be a few weeks. I'm actually doing pretty good, I just WANT better things, I don't feel I need them.

Tips for taking medications (pills and/or capsules)

At my followup appt I learned that any pill that will fit int he cap of a Water bottle is fine to take as is. A little more info to add to the pot here. I've been taking all mine as normal. I gotta say I hate taking them one at a time (I used to take 7 pills in 1 or 2 shifts), but I'm getting used to it and haven't had any get stuck as of yet.
