Oh my goodness. This is horrible. Please friend me on Facebook. I can private message you. My name is Laura Towell. I want to talk to you about this. I am so sorry.. my daughter was back in the hospital last week.

My daughter is going through this right now!! She is 29 years old And is married with 2 small children. She had the Gastric Sleeve on Sept. 8, 2016. She has spent 48 days total in the hospital. Her doctor takes NO responsibility. She has a new doctor that is trying to get her well. She has had 3 leaks and 2 stents. She was in so much pain. It has been terrible!! She has been in feeding tube, TPN, several drains for infection. Our family has been taking care of her small children because she is unable. This has been such a nightmare. I hope you are doing okay now.

No. She had internal bleeding after surgery and it caused the leak. I hope you are doing well. We are hoping this will be a distant memory soon.

Please let me know how you are doing now. My daughter is experiencing almost the same thing as you. She is on her 2bd stent, TPN AND feeding tube. Also the drain for infection. She is in extreme pain with the stent and we don't know for sure that it will work. Thus has been hell for our family! I pray you are all well now.

She still has the stent and is in a lot of pain. 3 or 4 more weeks with the stent. Hopefully the leak will heal this time. Thank you so much for checking on her????

You are all so sweet!! She has the stent and feeding tube and they will be very hard to tolerate for the next 6 weeks but she has no choice. Jtraub12 I am new to this site and I don't know if I know how to send a private message. I will try and figure it out.

Also I would like to say to anyone who has or anyone who is about to have surgery. They tell you that left shoulder pain is GAS and it will get better in time. (This I see true) Left shoulder pain is ALSO a sign of a leak.!! It is also accompanied by a fever. This is life threatening and must be treated immediately. We have had to figure all of this out on our own. I want to help anyone that I can with this process...

Thank you!! I am with her at the hospital now. She was so excited about this surgery! I was excited for her because I thought the risks were so minimal She is 29 years old and was very healthy until now. She wasn't extremely overweight. She is very very sick. She has an abcess and leak. She is hooked up to so many machines. We will get through this.

Still in the hospital in a lot of pain. I still believe that the weight loss surgeries are a good thing. I just want people to be aware of the terrible things that can happen. They say it is rare but we never thought it would happen to us.

Has anyone been prescribed Xarelto after Gastric Sleeve Surgery??

I have talked to several attorneys and they have said unless their is a death that we have no case. I am filing a complaint with the medical board.

He really did say that. I have a journal of everyday and everything that has happened and has been said. I also have all medical records. She had been to the ER 6 different times to 3 different hospitals. She also has fluid on her left lung. We have talked to many bariatric docs since we have been at this major hospital and they cannot believe that he put her on Xarelto!! Most docs use Lovenox or heparin. There is no antidote for Xarelto when internal bleeding starts. It is a miracle that she is alive. Now they don't know if they can do the stent today because of her low oxygen levels. I think she has had every complication possible. The new doc has even tried to contact the AL doctor about her. He doesn't call back. Her new doc is extremely upset with him. Her new doctor is extremely caring and will eventually get her well. ????????????????????
