  1. Wow you are back already!? do you still have your stitches in?
  2. http://www.lapbandforlife.com/postsurgerydiet.htm What do you think of this link? Do you think 4 weeks is slightly to long to be on liquids?
  3. You will wake up to a new life......Good luck!
  4. Hi I am 1 week post op, going onto my 2nd week liquid post op stage. Typically in a day I will wake up and have some Water, my Vitamins that really tiny and easy to swallow. Then at around 11am... I would have one or two small rusks (soft like crackers) that I chew until they are mushy in my mouth with light Philadelphia cheese or I might have a low fat yogurt instead (probably half). Also, sometimes for Breakfast I might have a few sips of a cup of tea and I am full. It really depends on how I feel. For lunch, I will have a yogurt or a frozen yogurt or some thin Soup, it depends how hungry I feel and what I am in the mood for. For dinner a thin soup, and from the soup I can only probably eat 5/6 small spoon fulls, sometimes more... Throughout the day I sip on water and low fat fruit juices. The first few weeks is recovery period and just learning to adapt to your band...
  5. WOW! that is amazing, well done on your loss so far!!!!! I was banded on the 3rd of June... I go back to work on the 17th I cannot wait for that day to come.......just to go back to work and to be able to move on the 3rd week phase. WELL DONE AGAIN!
  6. brilliant, how are you finding the weight loss so far? Is it as quick as you wished? Are you exercising?
  7. Hi I made it!! 1 week on liquids... I thought it was going to be impossible. I would have to honestly say.... this has been one of the most emotionally draining weeks of my life. Getting used to not having food to make me feel better, getting used to the 'morning tightness' from the band, having to mentally deal with my house holding eating usual dinners, forcing myself to go for a walk even when I am not feeling 100%, and not being at work (I am a workaholic). I would have to say that I have some very supportive colleagues, family members and friends  I did although have a little cry on Friday night, just out of feeling sorry for myself. I quickly snapped out of it and felt better after weighing myself... 14lb down... Even though a lot of it must be Water, it still felt good ........ 100lb to go lol I also started taking vitamins; Multivitamins with Iron (from boots), Vitamin d3 25mg (holland and barretts) and b12 1000mg (holland and barretts), just to support my general health. They are also tiny tablets... so it is a bonus... easy to swallow. I have also finished my Fraxiparine 0.6ml today, a daily injection that I have been taking to prevent blood clots, which burns AF!! I will still be wearing my night socks for another 5 days and walking for at least 15/20 minutes a day. In general, I am starting to feel better. I have 4 ports, 4 lots of stitches. I had one lot taken out yesterday as it got tight. 3 left...The nurse said my wounds are healing well but just not ready to be taken out yet. I cannot wait to wash my hair properly and have a proper shower. Please feel free to comment, and leave notes on your experience so far. Also....... Can someone recommend some tasty low calorie cold and hot liquids in the UK please? I have a blender if it is home made. I would REALLY appreciate it. Elisa x
  8. Thank you Steph When did you have your GB?
  9. Hi All, (probably the most honest thing I have ever posted) I am new to online forums.... I thought to sign up in order to track my weight loss as well as get to know others who are going through the same experience. I had my GB operation on the 3rd of June 2013, through Belgium Surgery Services. I found the whole process very quick, and the hotel we stayed in was quirky... an old prison! The reason why I had the gastric band operation was to get my life in order. I have always been the girl 'who has a pretty face' and people always said; 'if only you lost some weight, you would be so beautiful', 'if you was to lose a stone or two you would be stunning'.... The things people say! but these things play on your mind especially if people repeat them to you, well they played on mine anyway. Lets not be naive, we are judged by the way we look. I just didn't want my weight to hold me back anymore and hold back my confidence that I was slowly losing every stone I was putting on. Plus i love fashion, I like looking at healthy beautiful people. I admire them.... I have always been 'big'....I was born 15lb!! Most of my family is over weight. My granddad passed from diabetes a few years back and even though I have always had a 'shape', in the last few years I was finding myself putting on weight just by looking at food! You see my family is Greek, we LOVE food... we are foodies! I am not in denial that I was eating big portions at meal times and constantly snacking, but I just couldn't stop myself. Food was a big part of my life! It was always there to comfort me. When I did I would lose weight, through dieting. I would put it back on again (double sometimes) as soon as I was having a 'down time'. My BMI was highly creeping up and I was then diagnosed with PCOS (polysistic ovarian syndrome). Things got serious really... my periods stopped, my skin started getting bad.. my thighs were rubbing together and causing sores. At my heaviest I got up to 18.5 stone/252 pounds at 5'4. I had been thinking more and more about my weight and what I could do to help aid my journey. After all I have got my career on track and my mind on focus and in a happy place. My mum had a bypass 9 years ago and lost ALOT of weight but came alot of complications. She suggested a band, I researched it. Did some soul searching, decided this was my answer. Booked the GB and paid for my flights and deposit... Started saving (longest 3 months of my life! ) and here I am... I look forward to reading some your stories and networking with each other. My grammar and punctuation is not fantastic... after all I can get away with it. It is a forum Elisa x
