  1. Yes I don't know why someone would be opposed to the idea of letting someone help. Not giving or taking advice is CRAZY to me. I absolutely love this site because everyone is so nice and honest. Y'all also don't mind telling y'all's stories so that new and old bandits can learn from them. There are some really wonderful people on here and I appreciate all of y'all's advice. You would think that family wouldn't want to beat the other person but work together and take the lbs off together. That's their loss though :-)
  2. Okay I've never been ideal weight in my whole life.....I mean NEVER! ALWAYS been overweight and always got in trouble every time I would go to the doctor....well the other day I went to the OBGYN and got on the scale and had lost 4lbs from what I was when I went to get a fill. The doc had no clue that I had lap band and I just knew I was going to get fussed at for being 366. So she came in asking about how I have been doing and I told her about my lap band and she just thought that was so awesome! She was so proud of me for taking the step to a healthier me and so glad that my weight was gradually coming off and at a slow pace. I never heard once "well you know you need to watch what you eat" or "you know you need to lose more weight that that" it was ALL positive things about my weight and I've literally never had that happen before. It was nice to hear something good from a doc :-)
  3. Isn't it awful if you have people that are also banded in your family and they don't want to go through this with someone they know that has the band. They want to compare and contrast between them and the other banded person. Some people are so stubborn and think well if I don't share my secretes then ill be ahead. That's so weird to me..... I want to share my stories good or bad so people won't make the same mistakes or they could learn a new way of doing something. You can ALWAYS learn. I welcome any advice.. Some people will never learn I guess.
  4. Hear....it doesn't make sense. Maybe people were intimidated by you when you're smaller and when you're bigger you're "not a threat." Idk I was just wondering if anyone has ever had this problem or am I just looking too into it.
  5. Why when you're smaller but bigger you get picked on out loud but when you're really big people feel "sorry" for you and talk where you can't
  6. Is there anyone else out there in band land that is over 300 lbs and has tried couch to 5k? If you have then how did you do?
  7. Completely makes sense....I would be gaining too!
  8. I also found out that I lost 6.4 lbs over the past 3 weeks so that makes me feel a little better. I've always been the type that wanted to see the results right then but I'm trying to hang in with a gradual loss... :-) I just keep trying to remind myself how much I've lost. I'm so glad I found this website it has helped me so much!
  9. Okay well that explains why I'm not moving down in size much I'm either a 26 or 28 it varies. I would like to be a 22 by Christmas but I don't know that's a realistic goal or not.
  10. I think it said 20g of protein but if you go on their website it shows you the nutritional value. Www.injury.com
  11. I just ordered my starter pack for unjury protein and I'm excited to see which ones I like :-)
  12. How much did you ladies have to lose before being able to go get new clothes? I'm excited but I know it won't be for a little while but I was just curious :-)
  13. That's exactly why I was scared to tell anyone about it for the people that really matter. People think it's the easy way out and it ticks me off. We have to work just as hard as anyone else.... some people are like oh you have had it that long and only lost so many lbs and I smile and say yup how much have you lost? I get. Kick out of asking that because most of the time the people that say that are bigger people.... I hope you have a better week! :-)
  14. The end of the first week I cried non stop for about 2 or 3 days because everyone else was eating like I use to and I was so jealous....but y mom sat me down and told me that I'm not going to be on liquids forever and that ill be able to have a bite of something soon and that helped me. No one really realizes how big of a change it is until you actually are put in the situation. Give it at least 1 or 2 more weeks...at least until you can start to eat again. I would so do it again because I feel better with just the little amount I've lost and there's more to come plus this site is awesome and you have super nice people that are willing to listen and give their advice.
  15. I have been overweight my whole life and the lap bad was the best choice I've ever made! I'm 24 and didn't want the rest of my 20s to be worried about health problems and appearance. After watching YouTube videos and going to a seminar I found it was the best choice for me. I've never been able to lose over 20 lbs with just diet and exercise and the band helps you be mindful of what you're doing. I would recommend the lap band and would do it all over again. Plus I haven't had complications yet thank goodness. Good luck with your choice!
  16. So what I'm getting from all the information is no more than 30g protein per meal because that's the most your body can absorbed? So then you're getting a minimum or 90g per day? I'm just trying to make sure because I'm having problems with protein. What are some suggestions for food that has protein in it?
