  1. This is a hectic week for me as some bigwigs are visiting and I need to host the dinner for them tomorrow and give a presentation Friday. We had the dry run of our presentations yesterday so I just need to do some fine-tuning today. I'm hoping I get a chance to take a breath and relax a bit at work. This evening is also the only evening this week I will be home so I'm looking forward to that too! I did lose a bit of weight this week. It's good to see it inching down. Someone in my band finally said something about my weight last night. So that was good.
  2. That's amazing, Kelli! You will be able to give her so much support too.
  3. I made it through my run after nearly a week off. It went fine! Mostly a mental game. Dee, I do plan to train for the 10k because the other times I have finished the 5k training I had trouble staying motivated afterward.
  4. I had the flu last week so misses day 2 and 3 of week 7. I'm redoing week 7 this week. No big deal, it will just take me 10 weeks instead of 9. I love this program because I didn't have to feel guilty or feel like I've screwed up so might as well throw in the towel.
  5. Am I the only one or does this thread keep getting marked as having a new post, every few days? I don't get it.
  6. "Are you obese? Have you tried everything to lose weight (black and white footage of a person accidentally springing a thighmaster into a flatscreen TV. TV falls down on top of person/ footage of person running in sweatbands and wristbands and kneebands and looking miserable/ footage of a heavy person forlornly ordering salad while all of their thin dinner companions order steak sundaes topped with bacon whipped cream and laugh and laugh) Well, aspiring thin person — toil no more. Today, we're offering you the opportunity to lose weight THE EASY WAY: and all you have to do is have bacteria from the poop of a thin person injected into your intestines!" So the methodology needs a little work, but the research is still pretty fascinating and important. According to the New York Times, yesterday scientists published the results of a study that found that the bacteria living inside the digestive systems of thin people may actually be keeping them thin — and vice versa. http://feedly.com/k/17egxUg
  7. Hi all! I'm feeling mostly myself again after the flu symptoms hitting hard Tuesday-Thursday. I tried to go back to work Thursday (there was a required meeting) but only made it half the day. Yesterday I was back at work all day and felt pretty good. I even had dinner with a friend. We went shopping and I downgraded to size 16 jeans from Target! I think I will just work my way down the sizes in the $20 jeans. I could almost get the 14 to button but too much hanging tummy. I've missed two runs of week 7 of couch to 5k due to being sick so will restart week 7 on Monday. Sadly I have a ton of worn to catch up on this weekend and have a huge presentation to deliver Wednesday to a VIP in my company, so this is going to be a busy weekend. Also need to see if I can alter a black skirt that is nice but too big, so I have something nice to wear to said presentation.
  8. I'm not a vet so I probably should not reply, but I found the Flickr page helpful and posted it to social media too. For editing, are you using the app or website? If the website what browser? If the app, what platform (android or iOS)?
  9. Electrolysis is the best option for facial hair. Laser can make "peach fuzz" stronger and darker, and can also cause skin discoloration. And electrolysis is permanent. Laser is not. Best thing I ever did for myself. If you have PCOS, you may always need spot treatments for new hairs that come in. When I first started, I needed an hour a week. Then half an hour. Then half an hour per fortnight. Now it is three years later and I book in for 15 minutes every 6 months. I've had her shape my eyebrows too.
  10. As of today I have lost 20 kg, 20% of starting weight, just "obese" with no words before it, and weigh less than at my wedding! Surgery was 3.5 months ago. Unfortunately I also have the flu and feel like crap!
  11. How are you guys doing with this? I'm still having the problems. I've been tested for everything and don't have a bug. The doctor thinks my intestines might just be irritated so he is having me take gastro-stop twice a day and that is helping. The dietitian has me eating oatmeal for breakfast. I'm taking Metamucil twice a day and still taking a probiotic. The next step is a colonoscopy if it doesn't get better. I hope it's nothing more serious.
  12. W7d1! 20 minute run. Smashed it!
  13. That's great, Lissa! I just did W7D1! Its hard but I feel great when I'm done.
  14. If you feel weak it could be dehydration. You should probably feel ok on 700 calories if it is mostly protein and good carbs. Make sure you are drinking enough water and supplement with hydralite if you aren't sure.
  15. My husband just did w1d1 this morning! He is not sleeved and not obese but could stand to lose a few and get healthier. I'm proud of him even though I suspect we won't be able to run together because he will be faster than me!
  16. Wow that is impressive, Butter! I finished W6D3 today! A 15-minute run, 5 minute walk, then 5 minute run at the end. Wow! W7D1 is a 20-minute run, straight!
  17. Scientists have discovered new clues about how microbes in our digestive systems may affect health. European researchers found that the less diverse those microbes are, the more likely people are to gain weight, become obese and develop risk factors for serious health problems. Evidence has been mounting in recent years that bacteria and other organisms in our bodies do a lot more than just help us digest food. http://feedly.com/k/1a044bn
  18. W6d2 was hard! I had to run slow for the last interval. But I did it! This is when the rubber hits the road and each day just gets harder. I remember it from before. I will do it. Sheer determination. Friday I will be 2/3 of the way there.
  19. I did week 6 day 1. I can't believe I made it. 10 minutes straight of running. Twice!
