My BMI is 39 and have been diagnosed with Optic disc swelling (Swelling behind the eyes). I was advised to lose weight, I have been overweight all my life and have been capable of losing it in the past, but was never able to maintain it. My Neurologist advised that I look into WLS as that could resolve the eye issues (this swelling can lead to loss of sight!), it's been a very hard and agonising descision for me, I'm not scared of the surgery itself or the pain and can stick to a diet no problems, just can't keep it off.
I have two young children and hubby. He is so supportive and says he will support me whatever I decide, I'm just frightened of that 1-2% that I will be the one with major problems, but then again having this extra weight is causing me more problems that will only get worse if I don't do something about it. This won't be my first surgery either, I've had 2 caeserians, a gallbladder removed, a pin in my broken finger and a nose surgery for a deviated septum, I can deal with pain.........
I just want to be healthy for myself and my family, I hate having no self control and always being hungry. This is SO not about the way I look, it's about the way I feel, I derserve better and so does my family.
I supposed thats all the reaons that I am thinking about the sleeve.
