  1. Hello, My name is Ashley.I was diasgnosed with PCOS in 2008 when my finace (at the time) and I couldnt get pregnant. I was really tore up abou it and my fiance left me because of it. I went into a deep depression in which I used food as my escape. Finally in December 2012 I decided enough was enough and started looking for help. I found myself using my PCOS as an excuse as to why I will always be fat and gave up on that notion and decided I didnt want to be this way anymore. I was banded on March 26, 2013. I am 29 years old and have yo-yoed all my life so after alot of research I decided the band was for me. When I first went for consultation I was 311 lbs with a BMI of 56.9. The doctor told me I had to get down to 255 lbs before surgey. I did Optifast for 4 weeks and exercised very strictly and weighed in at 253 the day of my surgery. As of today I have lost 60 lbs even and Im very proud of myself. Its been hard work but I was expecting that. My surgery went smoothly and the incisions arent too bad at all. The only thing bothering me is the severe chest pressure and what I assume is heart burn. The pressure is starting to subside now so Im happy. I ate my first meal today (other than broth) and that went well. Half a bowl of soup really fills you up. The other site i signed up for is really quiet so I was happy to find this site so I can learn more valuable information. Anyways happy to be here, hope to learn lots from the lap band veterans. Ashley
  2. So I was banded on March 26th and just returned to work this past Monday. Every morning I try to eat , take one bite, get a mild chest pain and I throw up a mucus like substance, no food. Then after I throw up I can eat. Well now it's happening every meal and its a lot of mucus. It's not forceful and it doesn't hurt to throw up at all. Is this what they mean by sliming? It's getting really annoying and my surgeon office isn't open until Monday. Any advice? Does this happen to other people?

Nurse says its just irritation and agrees with going back on liquids. Says it could still be swelling as well. I see her Monday so we shall see how I am feeling by then.

    Help Please

I left a message. Hopefully someone will call back.im just going to go back on broths for now until I hear from them. It just sucks because my clinic is almost 2 hours away. Lap band clinics are few and far apart here. I don't feel bad it's just really inconvenient and scares me about trying to go some where other than home to eat. Not to mention embarrassing every time I have to throw up in my garbage can in my office at work cause I can't make it all the way to the washroom. Luckily my staff know I just had surgery or they would think I was bulimic. Hopefully it'll pass. Do you think it could be slippage?

Nope. Just an answering machine that says if I have an emergency go to the closest hospital. :s

I was never told of an emergency number. I know they are open 8-4pm Monday to Friday. I will try calling to see if I can get ahold of a number. Thank you.

Yeah tmi lol but at least I know now. All it takes is one bite and I have to rush to throw up. I might as well start eating my meals in there.

Thank you, i will. I think maybe i will just go back yo liquids for now. I saw some threads where people say it happens sometimes after fills and they are too tight but I haven't had a full yet.
  10. I was banded on the 26th of March, 2013. I had horrible gas pain for the f5 days but other than that I felt. I had my post op on April 1st and she said everything looked awesome and to start eating but to concentrate on protein, no carbs. That seemed a little soon but she's the doctor. So some things go down great but others not so much. The following day April 2 I woke up feeling really crappy and in pain. Lots of Pain in the centre of my chest and in my left rib cage under my armpit closer to my back. I took an liquigel and got my first stuck experience (omg). If I walk more than 5 minutes my back starts really aching. If I lie on my back I can barely breathe. My port incision hurts this week and I feel cold all the time. I wake up feeling nauseous which i never did before. Week 1 besides the gas pain was awesome and I genuinely felt good and was even going to go back to work after 2 weeks instead of the 3 weeks I booked off. Week 2 has been horrible. I was thinking about going back on a liquid diet to see if it helps. Perhaps get some pain killers, see if they have some dissolveable or liquid stuff. Alot of my swelling is down so I'm wondering if it just makes it where I feel everything a lot more. Did anyone experience this? Any advice? God I hope week 3 is better.

That's awesome. Thanks for the positive boost. Week 2 has been really rough on me so I'm hoping next week will be better. I haven't lost any weight since being banded but my nurse said that is probably from not having enough calories and the reduced activity. Thanks for the reply
