  1. I did Jenny and lost 80 lbs. However, I got sick, stopped Jenny and put it all back on. I then tried Jenny again and from there on in kept going up and down, up and down. I kept getting bored with their food and kept 'cheating' so I never did accomplish my goal. I finally gave up. I probably spent the cost of my band during that time. (You think I would learn). I then tried NutriSystem but didn't care for the taste of their food. Over the years I have done every diet going. I am hoping with the aid of the band that I can stop pigging out and eat small portions of decent food.

    Unhooked band

After surgery I had so much swelling that nothing would pass through. After three days of continually throwing up and severe pain, they decided to go back in and unhook it. I don't want them to remove it as it cost me ALOT of money and I can't see just throwing that away. I just wish I didn't have to wait 2 months to begin this journey the way I am suppose to. I'm not looking forward to being put under either cause after the 2nd surgery to unhook it I ended up in ICU after aspirating into my lungs while they were putting me out from the continual vomiting. I was just curious if anyone else had to have theirs unhooked and how they dealt with the hunger, etc.or if they still had some restriction.
  4. Due to difficulties after surgery, they had to go in and 'unhook' my band. Has anyone else had to experience this? I'm discouraged because I am on puree foods but I am hungry all the time. I have to wait two months before they will go back in and hook it back up.

    Removing glue?

I had to remove adhesive that was left behind from all the bandages that were used for my IV, etc. To remove that, I warmed the skin with the hairdryer, used baby oil on a cotton ball and gently rub the area of adhesive, let it sit for a few, then took nail polish remover to get what was still left behind. Easy to remove this way.
  6. Had my lapband surgery and a hernia repair on the 27th. In recovery I was throwing up so they removed what little fluid was in the band. Went to the hotel for recovery but during the evening started throwing up and developed severe pain. After spending a sleepless night in emerg throwing up and violent shakes they admitted me for observation. The Doctor felt it was due to excessive swelling. Finally on the 30th, after very little sleep, vomiting was increasing. I couldn't lay down or even lay at a high angle due to the vomiting so they decided to operate to 'release' the band. During surgery I aspirated into my lungs from vomiting and was put on a ventilator and put in ICU. During all this trauma I actually woke up in the middle of it. At the moment(s) I felt like I was going to die. The next day they removed most of the ICU equipment and told me I was a very lucky person that some people end up on the ventilator for days, weeks, even months after aspirating like I had. I am at home recovering right now with an 'unlatched' band and in a couple of months I am told I will need to have it hooked back up. Now, that is not sitting well with me. I am struggling with being put to sleep again to have it hooked back up for fear of complications again. I was told the 'unhooking' would be a couple minutes to do in surgery so knowing that hooking it back up would be quick doesn't make it any easier to deal with. But, I can't see leaving this expensive piece of equipment inside me and useless. I am told I am the 1% who could have issues. Aren't I the lucky one.
  7. It just goes to show how everyone is different. My daughter had hers done 2 yrs. ago without one problem and she looks great. Hope things get straightened around for you and your husband.
  8. I feel so bad for both of you. I know my kids were so worried. Still sounds like it is either too tight or there is alot of swelling or both. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
  9. I had the surgery done here in Canada by one of the top lapband surgeons. People come from all over Canada to see him. I am not giving up on it yet. I don't want to think I wasted all those big $$ just yet. I am alittle uncomfortable in the abdominal area too but hoping that will subside with time. I sure hope you feel better soon! I have read on here where some have wished after the surgery that they never had it done but within time they are quite happy with it. My daughter had hers done two years ago and is very happy with hers. She looks fantastic. I have really bad health issues with arthritis in joints, etc and was told the pain would never subside unless I lose weight. This is my last hope. Did you have to travel to have yours done?
  10. My surgery was performed at a clinic as an outpatient. I had to travel over 3 1/2 hours so they put me up in a hotel for the night so I could be close in case of complications. Once the pain and vomiting started they sent me to emerg. and then admitted me the next day when it wasn't settling down.
  11. They had given me drugs for nausea but they didn't work. Even with an empty stomach I was still 'manufacturing' stuff. I wondered too if it as from bleeding during surgery combined with swelling and excessive saliva. Thanks for the well wishes.
  12. It's not pleasant, I feel bad for you too. Call the doctor and let them know!
  13. Thanks for the well wishes. I always tend to throw up after surgery which they knew and assured me I would be fine and would be given stuff to take care of that. I had been 15 hours prior with no food for the first surgery (27th) and for the second surgery I had nothing to eat or drink at all since before the first surgery. I apologize for getting graphic but what I was throwing up was the colour of coffee grounds. It just kept building up anyway. By the third day it would just roll up my throat and they knew this going into the surgery to release the band. They kept telling me I would be fine. I had no other symptoms. The doctor had mentioned he thought it was due to excessive swelling down there and releasing the band would help. The vomiting has stopped and I seem to be recovering fine. I am on full liquids right now.

    Slimtime

i only have today and tomorrow and then Wed. is surgery! I added Crystal Lite to the shakes to change up the flavours. I don't mind the taste of them at all, it's just the aftermath LOL.
  15. For the first week post-op it says that I can have full fluids. This apparently, according to the list from the clinic, says low-fat yogurt. Does anyone know of a yogurt that is fruit flavored but does not have the fruit pieces in it?
  16. I am schedule for my surgery for March 27th. I am on just SlimTime shakes 3 x a day with some veggies. Shakes haven't been agreeing with me so I'm told to try the Protein enhanced Boost. Did anyone else have this problem? I am alittle worried, I have had a major arthritis flareup and I am down to walking with a walker right now with alot of pain. I am hoping this will improve and not interfere with surgery!
