    Birth control AFTER surgery...

Post op you have to crush your pills and in the beginning stages of healing I wouldn't trust that your stomach is absorbing everything the way it used to. The other problem is that birth control pills increase your risk of a blood clot. I didn't want anything to put me more at risk for that either.

    Birth control AFTER surgery...

I don't trust the absorption issues post op with the pill. I got an IUD! Best decision for me.

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

I started training for a 5k four weeks ago. When I started I "ran" a 16 minute mile. Since then I've dropped 11 pounds, 2 inches in my waist, and yesterday I ran a 12 minute mile. That's a lot of progress in 4 weeks. I'm halfway through my training. Hopefully the progress keeps showing..

Good luck! I hope your knee lets you run it, but either way you'll be proud when you cross that finish line!

    Frustrated and at a loss.

Best wishes on your procedure, Paige! I've been diabetic since I was 9 years old and years ago I had a problem with gastroparesis and I know it is so painful. Mine ended up going away with Meds and some time. (This was long before my VSG was done.) I hope yours heals up quickly. I'm sorry you have to go through it!

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

My WLS support group in my area all signed up at the local gym for a "Boot Camp" to get us all in shape to run a local 5k in May. Tonight is the first session. Wish me luck, because I'm terrified!

    Insulin Pumpers having VSG?

Thanks for the inspiration. I'm definitely willing to suffer for what lies ahead. I can't wait! I've already lost 14 pounds since my surgery and it's only been 8 days!

    Eeeekkkkk! Tomorrows surgery day!

I had my surgery one week ago today. I was such a nervous wreck before having it that I was crying in the hospital. I wish I'd have known that it's not so bad. (I feel like child birth was much worse.) I had enough pain medicine in the hospital to cover my needs. I'm already 12 pounds less than what I weighed when I went in the hospital. My scars don't look like they'll be too bad. I bought some mederma and kelo-cote gel to help them heal once I'm allowed to put them on there. I tend to scar pretty badly. So far it's not been as bad as I thought it would be. Good luck ladies! You'll do fine! Just keep focused on that healthier "you" that is right around the corner!!!

    Insulin Pumpers having VSG?

Hello everyone! It's so nice to see that there are other people out there like me. I'm 28 years old, I've been a type 1 Diabetic for the past 18 years. I've been on an insulin pump for the past 10 years. I had my sleeve done a week ago. It's been a lot of work with controlling my blood sugars, but it's all worth it. I'm really looking forward to losing the weight and feeling young and healthy again!
