  1. Hi...Im beggining my process with the lapband. I just have the appointment for the seminar, I know its just the beginning. ...Im concern about the insurance approval and I hope anyone here can give me an advise, or tell me your expirience...Im in the process of disability to take ssdi. I have anxiety disorder and other things...I think Im in the end of the process because in May I will have my hearing with the ss judge. I have two years of therapies, medication and depression too. My question is, its possible my insurance can denies me for my condition my mental history or my actual meds??? Now I take Clonazepam, Wellbutrin, and Ambien.... Any experience or advise I will really appreciate!
  2. Oh girls, I need to gain some pounds, unbelieveble.....and maybe ankle weights lol. Not a bad idea lol... I think if I use ankle weights I will be very nerveous if thw nurse of the dr notice them....They will check me??? Any experience with that? Sounds weird, but I need the band, Im sick and tired of try diets, pills and excercise and yo-yo life, and I fight with my sugar levels too for my diabetes.

  4. Hi! I dont have any appointment yet...I just make the process of registration to take the seminar.... I have a BMI of 34, and Diabetes Type II, I got and read the insurance guideline...check the copy paste below: The patient must meet all of the following clinical criteria that include but are not limited to:  BMI > 40 and strongly desiring substantial weight loss to improve quality of life, or > 35 with high risk comorbidity/i es (obstructive sleep apnea, Pickwickian syndrome, obesity-related cardiomyopathy, diabetes mellitus Type 2 poorly controlled on insulin, or obesity-induced physical problems interfering with lif estyle (e.g. joint disease treat able but for the obesity, or body size problems precluding or severely interfering with employment, family function and ambulation)  Continued obesity despite previous efforts at nutritionally and medically sound weight loss that have been tr ied and failed for a minimum of 6 months as documented in medical records  Psychological assessment for readiness and likelihood of success completed  Patient demonstrates motivation and willingness to make necessary changes in eating and drinking habits  Patient has attended support group or other forum to learn about surgery from other patients  Assessment for medical problems that would increase risk of surgery has been completed and addressed  Patient is able to participate in treatment and long-term follow-up.  There are no untreated metabolic cause s for obesity, such as adrenal or thyroid disorders .
  5. Good luck to both! I found Pioneer Valley Surgical Group in Springfield MA, they told me that they accept BMC/Masshealth. I have my first seminar in April, because I cant in March...I'm a concern about the insurance approval, and my BMI....oh thats not easy...

  8. Hi everyone! I called my insurance today..., a lil rude guy told me that I need a referral from my PCP, explaining my necesity, and my medical situation, and then their doctors check my case and will took a decision. I have Masshealth too, and he told me that I need to wait 14 days more for their approval???! I really dont understand, and honestly I didnt ask more questions because I didnt lke the attitute of the insurance guy. That was BMC Health Network... Any advise, anything to me!!!?

  11. Hi! Thanks for the help....well I live in Springfield MA (western area), Its far for me the Boston area...I will check with my insurance tomorrow, if they dont cover the surgery Im gonna change it with other one like Network Health. ..anyone know if I need a refer of my doctor? Thanks again!

  13. Hi! Im so happy to find this website, and greatful information about lapband surgery. I have 38 years, yo-yo dieter since 18 yrs old. I m searching information about the lap band surgery, I have a low BMI 34. Anyone can help me, or advise me...I have Masshealth (Medicaid) with BMC Plan, and I dont know what is a good surgeon in this area (I live in Western Massachusetts)....I'm tired of loss and gain again pounds, and I have diabetes too. Really appreciate any information or help!! God bless!
