Any may banders
From personal experience from other surgeries walking and moving is the best way to get rid of the gas. You can try a heat pad also but if you want the best relief have someone to rub it till it goes away. I haven't had a problem with that much with this surgery. I'm having esophageal spasms from my hernia repair brought on by too cold food. I didn't want to take a pain pill but I finally had to break down and take one. I am also having a lot of intestinal gas and explosive diarrhea. That has been the worst so far. My surgery was Tuesday and today I got to experience the feeling of eating too much. I don't want to do that again! I are just a bite or two over a half cup and I thought I was having a heart attack from the pressure in my chest. It felt like I had a huge burp lodged sideways and it wouldn't come up, go down, anything. It just went away. Wow! What have I gotten myself into???

My hernia repair and my right side are what hurts the most also. But my hernia was in my esophagus so it hurts in my chest. I think my ports on the left side. It doesn't hurt too bad at all I'm still having some mobility issues getting in and out of bed and turning. Otherwise I'm not doing bad at all. I have gas pains in my left shoulder and I'm also having gurgling from eating foods again. I'm just glad it's over with.

Hello May Bandsters! I hope you all are doing well! I want to thank you all for the get well wishes. I came home yesterday evening. I had to stay because I had to do the barium swallow plus my heart rate was too high and my oxygen was too low. I woke up at about 330 this morning with my throat swollen. My uvula was almost blocking my throat. So I had to go see the PCP today. Apparently I have both ears infected and a sinus infection. I've been on the clear liquids yesterday and today and I move on to full liquids tomorrow. Other than being sore where I had an esophageal hernia repaired I feel good. I'm still pretty tired and have some gas pains but otherwise I feel great! Thanks again, guys, for your support!

Had my surgery yesterday. Ended up staying overnight in the hospital because I couldn't do the barium swallow. I was too nauseated. So far I'm just sore. My nurse has a walking app on her phone and she said that I have already walked a half mile just getting out of bed. Dr said that he had to use a bigger band due to my hernia bad it will work but it will just take longer to lose weight. At least it's over!

I'm sick of them, too, but when I don't have one I can feel it. I have a lot more energy, though, than what I had before. I'm so nervous I don't know what to do with myself. Tuesday can't get here fast enough.

Mine is Tuesday, also! I'm nervous, scared, excited, and anxious all at the same time. Good luck to you!- Any may banders
I agree! The rain here in VA has been the pits this week! I thought we were going to get it again this evening but we didn't. It got so dark so fast! Glad it's over. I have been watching the weather for next week after my surgery and I am thinking some R&R in the sun is coming up!- Any may banders
Sitting at the hospital as we speak getting ready to do my pre-op. One week from today I will move into the land of the band! I'm getting nervous but am mostly excited. I'm ready to get it over with. My pre-op diet is going ok. I'm struggling with the fact that I want something salty SOOOOO bad! I have a Carnation Breakfast Essentials shake with 1/2 scoop protein powder 4 times a day and 1 Healthy Choice meal for supper. I just want this next week to go by quickly. However, I still have a few things I need to get done beforehand. Best of luck to us ALL!!!- Any may banders
I have found comfort in broth and bullion cubes today for a little salty treat. I hope I'm not screwing up my pre-diet.- Any may banders
Today was day 4 for me of the incredible liver shrinking diet. My true test came when I had to take my 2 teenage daughters to the dentist. Lo and behold they were starving and craving them some Chick-Fil-A. Oh my gosh! Lemme tell you.........Healthy Choice became Olive Garden when I got home!- Any may banders
I start mine Tuesday and I'm dreading it.- Any may banders
May 6- May lap-band
I start mine on the 22nd and my assistant in my office is going to do it with me so that I'm not alone at work and my mom and my daughter is going to do it with me at home. Who knows? Maybe this will kick start them to getting healthier.- May lap-band
31 days till my surgery and I find out yesterday that my insurance denied it saying it is not medically necessary. They want to do a peer-to-peer call with my doctor to try to get an override. I sure hope that works. Otherwise I'm just going to have to put myself in debt for it. I've been prepping for this for almost 2 years. What a HUGE frustration!- Getting prepared...
My surgery date is May 6th. I'm trying to get things done ahead of time so I'm organized for my surgery and not totally stressed out. Any suggestions for the full liquid stage of the diet? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!- May lap-band
My pre-op diet will be 4 Carnation Instant Breakfast or Slim Fast shakes with added protein powder daily and 1 Healthy Choice meal of my choice for supper. I will follow this for 2 weeks prior to my surgery.- May lap-band
My surgery is May 6.- After 2 years preparation.....
I finally have a date of May 6! Any suggestions on what to do now?- Any advice from you guys?
Hello guys. I'm a newbie on this forum but was pretty established on the VSG forum. You see, I had the complete work up to have the sleeve done. My surgeon told me she wanted to do an EGD before scheduling surgery because I have so much reflux. After the EGD I learned I have a Barret's esophagus, which basically is thinning of the esophagus. She said that I have one of the largest hiatal hernias she has ever seen. Because of this I can no longer have the sleeve due to the risk of my esophagus rupturing. She said she would like to suggest the bypass for me, which she felt would be better for me anyway. When I first started this journey I wanted the band. Then I went to the sleeve. I had never wanted the bypass but now it's that or nothing. My hesitancy comes from seeing so many people I know have it and gain almost all their weight back or develop such severe problems from the malnutrition. My best friend's sister even has to have bi-weekly blood transfusions because she no longer absorbs iron and she is right back to 375 from 330. Any advice from you guys would be greatly appreciated.- Last appointment
I have my last appointment Wednesday before they schedule my surgery. This is the final appointment before they submit the case to insurance for approval. I am so nervous that I will be rejected. If I do I will be devastated! Everyone keep your fingers crossed. I will be scared to death till I hear something and the surgical representative for bariatrics said that my insurance takes the full 6 weeks to make a decision. Wish me luck!- Untolerable foods
What foods can you guys not tolerate since your sleeve? I'm hearing that you may not tolerate it today but do fine with it tomorrow. Is that the case? - May lap-band
