Swimmers? Im nervous...
I'm not an avid swimmer but I did go swimming today (317 lbs.), nothing broke when I got out I also went swimming when I was in the 360's, no issues there either. Not sure about slowing others down etc, never swam competitively. Just for fun. Good luck, I guarantee it won't be as bad as you anticipate

What to tell nosy people?
- On my 5 mile walk this morning....
Thanks everyone! It was awesome and I'm happy that this has motivated others to get active as well!! Yesterday I spent 4 hours at the zoo and today I'm at the Water park (2 hours already, probably be here another 2) my son is loving this new active lifestyle!! .- Weight loss goal?
My personal weight loss goal is 225 my doctors goal for me is 213... But I want to be a pretty solid 225. But, more than just the # on the scale I want off of blood pressure meds and the cpap. I'm already off of BP meds and the cpap is next!!- Daddy cant do it
Love this story! You WILL do this!!! I have a 5 year old son too. Like you I don't want to miss seeing him grow up and enjoy life! Plus, I'm pretty sure I'll be a kicka** Grandpa! Kids are great motivation, you WILL succeed! You're doing great already!!- On my 5 mile walk this morning....
So a lady stopped me this morning around mile 4. She lives right around the corner from me. "I see you walking every morning when I'm getting my coffee. You look great, you're losing weight, your posture has improved, your gait is faster. You are doing great, it motivates me to get off my butt and get moving" man that made that last mile easy! It reminds me to show up and work hard because you never know who's counting on you for motivation! I remember that I used to be embarrassed to exercise outside. I thought people would think "oh look another fat guy trying to lose weight, bet he gives up in a couple days." I don't know why I thought that just did. But I've been busting my butt walking/jogging between 1-5 miles 6 days a week for about a month now. I even completed my first 5k! Keep working hard everyone, you are someone's source of motivation, whether you believe it or not!!- My success
Awesome! Congrats on your success!!- Feeling sick
- husband's weight loss
That's awesome! Great for both of you guys!! This weight loss thing does seen to run off. My sister started trying to lose weight around when I did and had lost 20 pounds, my wife has lost 6 pounds (she only weighs 145 and is 5'8 so 6 pounds is a lot!)! It's awesome how when you decide to get healthy others around you do too!- Anyone on My Fitness Pal?
If you search for this under forums there are threads full of people. I'm ericnorth25- Do you eat the same stuff??
I'm only 6 weeks post-op but I do eat SOME of the same foods that aren't great for me (hot dogs, cheeseburgers that i make on the grill) but I eliminated A LOT of foods! I don't go through drive-thru's anymore, no pizza, stay away from desserts (except for very rare small snack), pastas, and the list goes on. I eat a lot of protein filled foods/snacks now. Ham, chicken, turkey bacon, turkey pepperoni, nuts, protein shakes (for breakfast almost every day). But, even when I do eat some of the same things as before its in much smaller amounts.- Any bandings in May????
- What Are You Reading?
I read this book for a Western Religions class last semester. It's hilarious! There are so many crazy rules in the Old Testament. I started his next book "Drop Dead Healthy" but I have to read so much for school that I rarely read books for my own pleasure. But, I will finish it, eventually- First one for May???
Thanks ladies! Where do I send the check to?- Incision
I would definitely call your doctor and talk to them. They may even ask you to email a pic to them or probably come in to check it out. Mine never looked like that, but everyone is different. But, that doesn't look good. Call your doc maybe they can squeeze you in today!- First one for May???
- First one for May???
That stinks that it took them a few pokes. We're you laying down? Do they offer it under fluoro? Glad they got it taken care of feeling feel is great, unfortunately my hunger had come back- And the newest fad diet is......
That is the nuts Lol. Sounds like a Doctor with too much time on his hands- First one for May???
That last post goes to you too drehn!- First one for May???
You will do great! The fills are a piece of cake. There's nothing to worry about good luck!!- Biking Banders
Holy crap! Great job man, that's a hell of an accomplishment!!- Liquid Diet Crazy!
Welcome! pre-op diets are tough but VERY worth it! Sounds like you are doing great! Post often with any questions that you might have. I won't be able to answer any but the vets on here can- discouraged
I had surgery a month ago, first week dropped 11 pounds! But, in the next 2 1/2 weeks I gained a pound! I was discouraged, annoyed, frustrated. BUT, I continued what I was doing, tracking my foods, exercising 6 days a week (walking 1-3 miles a day). By the end of the fourth week I dropped 5 pounds! Bottom line is, you already know what's going on. Your body is healing, take it easy! I know the feeling, I wish I wouldn't have stressed over it as much as I had. Track your foods, walk (or whatever you are cleared to do) and the scale will catch up with your hard work!! Good luck!!- Orientation today!
Good luck with whatever you choose! The only thing that I can say is Figure out what surgery YOU want. It's your body, your stomach, your LIFE. Personally I researched the band and sleeve thoroughly on my own. THEN after I decided to go with the band I researched surgeons in my area that did the lap-band surgery. I chose one that is 45 minutes away even though there are tons within 15-20 minutes of my house. But, I'll drive the extra little distance to choose the SURGEON that I want! Heck my wife is a corporate accountant with physician offices that perform the lap-band procedure. I didn't choose them It's my journey and I'm calling the shots with who I want to help. I would just urge you to do research on your own. Not saying the sleeve isn't the right surgery for you, it may very well be! BUT, you should decide that, not your doctor. FYI some doc's like sleeve/bypass over band because of the aftercare that the band requires. They charge more and have to do less aftercare with sleeve/bypass. Anyways good luck no matter what you choose! I wish you nothing but success!!!- Finished my first 5K!!
Don't worry my son will never wear a Cubs or Cardinals shirt. If he does he will have to find a new place to live - On my 5 mile walk this morning....
