May 2007 Banders
Melissa it has got to be because your TOM is coming that seems to cause alot of people to get tighter. I'll bet if you just take it easy for a couple of days you'll loosen back up a little and be healed and back on track by the end of your TOM! You are doing so great, don't get discouraged, I LOVE to login here and see your posts and watch your progress. I only wish I could put up the numbers that you and Sandra do so hang in there and don't get discouraged.....one good thing about being so tight as we know it causes the scale to drop (probably after you're TOM so you lose the extra water weight) so keep us posted, I know i'm not the only one waiting to see you're progress!!!!

Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!
AudricIan how are you doing? You've been quiet on this thread...is everything okay? Have you been losing or have you hit a standstill? Hey everyone let me know your latest NSV's, I need some encouragement as i'm losing so slow!! I did have a NSV moment yesterday though, I put on a pair of jeans that I wear regularly only to realize that HEY they were too big for me to continue to wear, so I pulled another (smaller size) out of my closet-still a little on the tight side, but i'm moving down the size charts ever so slowly!!!!

I'm the same way, i'm lighter now than before I got pregnant in '04 and can't wear the pants from back then because I have too much bulk in the stomach area still, my pants are starting to get roomy in the seat, but still tight across the stomach...darnit!

2nd fill ~ Too Tight ~ Less than 24 hours.
Yes my last fill was too tight and I made the mistake of waiting and wished I hadn't-I was miserable with heartburn. I'm glad you're calling, take care.:smile2:

2nd fill ~ Too Tight ~ Less than 24 hours.
Unfortunately heartburn CAN be a sure sign of an overfill. You may want to call your Dr. if it's happening every day??

2nd fill ~ Too Tight ~ Less than 24 hours.
Well I am not qualified to diagnose, only your surgeon can do that. PB'ing and getting food "stuck"causes the irritation. I would definitely move SLOWLY into the mushies and start them very thin. I hope this helps? Renee

You're definitely irritated, that may be what is causing you pain. If you are going to stick to liquids you may want to put protein powder in your hot drinks like coffee/cocoa etc. to be sure you're getting enough protein. I'm on liquids right now after my fill yesterday and this helps me get my protein in because you can only drink SO many shakes! Hang in there and try to resist mushies for a day or two...especially in the AM. Also you may want to avoid cold drinks since they are causing you pain too until later in the day. Renee

Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!
Thanks Denise, I have to be honest with you-I think I psych'ed myself out when I realized how FULL my band actually was once I got home and checked my notes-and then I was WAITING and WATCHING for anything to happen. All day I have had NO issues since this am and have stuck to protein shakes, hot tea and for dinner I had french onion soup (sans the bread and cheese of course) and I feel great. I've gotten my water in and I think once the initial swelling goes down I am going to be pleased with the restriction so I'm going to quit counting numbers and just be sure to baby my band and not irritate the stoma to be sure I know what is real and what may be imagined!! Away2Me, Thanks for your post and sympathy. It is always good to know we are not in this alone and even though I thought I was a "pro" at this by now, I was not losing very fast and I think an aggressive fill is going to help....for instance the night before I got this fill - my husband took me out to a restaurant to celebrate our Anniversay-I had half of a salad-half a steak, a few bites of garlic mashed potatoes and ALL of my asparagus! That is tooooo much food and I didn't feel stuffed! I also started to feel hungry again within two hours after eating (sometimes sooner depending on what I ate) so I was desperately in need of a fill! I'm going to baby my band this week and see what happens...thanks again! Im actually really excited to see where this fill takes me!!!! Renee

Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!
All, I went in yesterday am and got another fill, this puts me at ~3.5 cc's in my 4 cc band-previous to this fill I was eating pretty well and feeling hungry earlier so I was loosened up somewhat and not loosing for a couple months. (for some reason<it's a long story and irrelevant> the Dr. and I both didn't take into account one of my previous fills and thought I only had a total of 2.8cc's total in my band, but when I got home I double checked and realized our mistake) Well now I am VERY tight, I am able to hold down clear liquids for the 24 hours and no reflux has shown, but this morning I drank a cup of hot black coffee and a couple of sips of a watery protein drink. Once I drank the protein drink I felt like it was going to come back up. So I salivated quite profusely for about 10 minutes then it passed. So I have to make the decision of whether I want to get a slight unfill today or wait for 2 weeks until I can get back to the Dr....am I being too skittish and this is normal after a tight fill and i'm just still swollen? Can some of you give me your experiences with this and offer a word of advice? thx. Renee

going to cabo- what if I drink too much?
My advice, have fun and be smart....ENJOY!!!!!! I envy you!

I feel like such a failure
You are being WAY too hard on yourself. You are still ahead with a 26# weight loss! That in less than 2 months! That is amazing. Even if you detour on occasion, could you have done that without the band? You will get back on the band wagon and drop even more, just hang in there....i've had mine since May and i've only lost 30 lbs and i'm happy to have done that and NOT gained over the holiday's..but to lose 26# in less than 2 months, I would be ecstatic! Just keep active and think thin and it will come!!:tongue2:

I'm soooo sorry you feel so awful, that doesn't sound very fun! You should call your doctor and ask them for their opinion, if it isn't too far to go you may want to go get a slight unfill. They can take out the tiniest amount and you will feel like a million bucks again! It sounds like it may be worth it and most doctors will do it within a short period after a fill for no extra charge. Good luck.
-
Oh, MAN!!!
It wouldn't hurt to call your doctor and let him/her know that you are not feeling restriction and ask if it is indeed necessary to do the liquids for the full two days since you are not feeling it ?? They can always say no, but I know how hard it is to stick to liquids so thought I would suggest you try. Good luck. :tongue2:

Beans (not quite as solid as meat) are a great source of protein, filling and easy to get down...I highly recommend them.:tongue2:

Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!
I'm with you. I haven't lost any weight since September. It is depressing, but the good news is that I put on a couple of pounds over Christmas just to have it fall right back off once the fudge was put away! Usually I carry around Christmas from one year to the next and it snowballs....argh. So this is a NSV! We just have to keep on track and not get blue as it will come off eventually.

For those who have PCOS
Welcome Whimsy, it sounds like you are making good decisions and hopefully once you lose a little you can conceive. I too tried for years and NOTHING...then once I quit trying and wasn't even thinking about it...whammo. She's now three!! Yeah, God Bless.
