  9. I have my pre-op dates one at doc and one for labs for the next two upcoming weeks. Feb 19th is coming fast! I am getting excited plus overwhelmed with trying to finish up work and house chores in time.
  10. My first support meeting at the docs office was today. It was 95% Lap-Bander though. They were really friendly and supportive. There was a guest speaker - plastic surgeon http://www.drperson.com/ he was very lively and informative. I heard there are alot of VSG'ers at a group in Prince Fredrick, MD. My date is 2/19. Getting ready.
  11. Call your doc about your eyes. Search vsg posts others have had fuzzy eyesight too.
  12. Try the emotional thread. You will get a lot of replies there.
  13. It is through Dr office, so I dont know if its open to all. Just call dr. Amins office at SOMD. They will know.
  14. Oh wow. It's a shame that Jaycees one isn't legit. My docs office has one the last Sat of the month at 10 am at SOMD.
  15. My docs office has one once a month at SOMD hospital.
  16. Sports Authority also has them by nagalene in the camping section. They are in pink, blue, and green and look "camping trip outdoors style"!
  17. Has anyone considered eating Protein and lots of veggies on their own before the pre-op diet starts? Has anyone visited their local post-oper's support group? What was it like? I am going to my first post-opers group on Jan 26 w/ my mom. They invite the pre-op's to see what it is like. My surg is still scheduled for 2/19. My insurance need proof of weight from the past 3 years and my PCP sent it over right away. I am a bit weary about melting in to a "crying mess" due to estrogen releasing during the weight loss phase. Also, planning summer and fall activities for my family has commenced and I am wondering how vacations and travel will turn out.
  18. I have a date 2/19
  19. Think of your surgery as your "graduation day". When you graduated from school - did you know how to precisely handle your current job? Probably not, your degree was just a springboard to get your hired. Your practical education most likely came from on-the-job training and hands on activity. Think of working out, logging food journals, and building muscles as your on-the-job training.... Now get it moving - You've got work to do!
  20. My gallbladder was taken out two years ago. The organ had turned gray! I had stones too. It was six hour open surgery. Lots of adhesions from prior surgery. I felt so much better after having it out.
  21. Jcpenny has a large plus size workout wear section.
  22. I am Lady V. I am 5" 4 and 262 lbs. I am in my late 30's. I like exercising (Zumba and weight training). I hope that VSG complements my exercising and I end up w/ a toned apperance. My GW is 140. I don't have my exact Feb date yet. I should know soon. My paperwork has gone in already. My surgery is in the U.S. I had all of my NUT classes and testing done. I am having open VSG. I have lots of abnormal scarring, plus removed instestines from a surgery I had as an infant. I had open gallbladder a couple of years ago. I am scared to death of stricture, leaks, and excessive gerd. I am curious at to various pre-op routines. It appears the NUT part varies from doc to doc.
  23. If the DVD is boring use your tv PIP feature and watch your favorite show while following the workout show.
  24. A gym with free daycare has worked for me. Also, Walk away the pounds. Plus, Buddy w/ a neighbor for early jog, cycle, spin, or bike.
