  1. I completely agree with PdxMan. My experience with Dr Umbach and his staff was very similar. I had surgery on March 5 so I am more than 6 months out. I have lost 92 lbs and still have about 45 more to go. But if you are interested in looking at options for self pay in the US he is a good one to look at.
  2. For those of you who suffered from PTC pre -op. I am curious as to how long it took for your headaches and vision problems to resolve and or how long it took before the discontinued your medications. I am almost six months post op an I have lost 85 lbs and my headaches and vision disturbances have actually worsened and my neurologist has added medications. So unfortunately no improvement for me yet.
  3. Can someone please add me to the Facebook group. ddupps@yahoo.com
  4. For those of you who were sleeved the first week in march...how is eating going for you? I always feel sick after I eat. I've never thrown up but it's getting to the point where I don't even like to eat anymore. Nothing tastes good and I always feel nauseated after I do?
  5. Surgery was March 5 - I lost 13 pounds pre-op and 13 pounds since surgery. Total of 26 lbs.
  6. I was sleeved yesterday and my doctor didn't have me do it either and everything was fine.
  7. Ok...so here I sit at the airport waiting to board my flight to Las Vegas. Pre-op tomorrow surgery Tuesday. I am experiencing some anxiety but I have it under control. I am on day 12 of my pre-op diet and have lost 13 pounds. Interesting those all came off in the first 7days and nothing for the last 5.
  8. March 5 is the big day for me! First day on my pre-op diet. It wasn't so bad...I just need to keep my eye on the prize!
  9. Sumsuz68 - I am traveling to Vegas for my surgery I am scheduled for March 5 -my preop is March 5. I've been wondering about the amount of energy after surgery as well. I am going to a Maroon 5 concert on March 11. Are you scheduled with Dr Umbach?
  10. Pacificpeach - I am scheduled with Dr Umbach on March 5 so we are pretty much on the same schedule I am just a few days ahead. Keep me posted on your journey!
  11. I originally thought my surgery was going to be in January and I was going to be self pay. But so much can change in a month. I have been approved my insurance company and I am now scheduled for surgery March 5. I am so ready for this.
  12. Thank so much. I have my appointment tomorrow. I just wanted to make sure everything is documented correctly. Jumping through all the hoops to get approved!
  13. When the insurance says one of the requirements is an evaluation with a nutritionist what exactly are they looking for? What needs to be documented for it to qualify?
  14. His price is still $10400 as long as you pay cash. $11000 if you pay by credit card. It does include everything. You can also purchase BLIS insurance that cover you for a certain amount of time for most post op complications. I'm not sure if BLIS covers surgeons in Mexico. But you can check on the website to see what surgeons are covered.
  15. Tzepeda I just wanted to check in with you to see how you are doing and what your journey has been like so far?
  16. My surgery date was changed from January 4 to January 25. A little bummed but still excited to be part of the January 2013 sleeve club!
  17. Well actually I've tried unsuccessfully to loose weight my entire life. Not just the last year.
  18. I'm talking about the 6 months not the 2 week pre-op diet. I have intercranial hypertension. I have tried unsuccessfully for the last year to loose weight. Unfortunately I was not being weighed in every month only every 3 months. The headaches, nausea and vision changes have just become intolerable. It wasn't until my doctor and I talked about weight loss surgery that I became aware if the every month weigh in.
  19. Has anyone been successful in getting their insurance to waive the 3-6 supervised diet requirement?
  20. Tzepeda glad to hear you are doing so well!
