Post op experiences and support
I too get the shoulder pain if I eat too much, which is nice considering the band is empty. I'm constantly having to remind myself to slow it down!

Post op experiences and support
Today for some reason my head hunger has been unreal!! Nothing I'm eating is making me feel satisfied. I've been doing sooo well, so I don't know what's different about today. I'm happy tomorrow I get to move foward to soft foods, maybe that will help some of this!

Post op experiences and support
How's everyone doing? I'm now one month post op, and feeling great! I've lost 12lbs since my surgery, which I'm totally thrilled with! Tomorrow I go in to see the nutritionist and will finally get to move on to soft foods...although I've been doing really well on pureed foods. I'll get my first fill in 2 weeks I'd love to hear some updates!

Significant Weight Loss?
I'm 4 weeks out today, and have lost 10lbs since my surgery day (23lbs since my pre op diet)...I'm very happy with that! I track every single thing that goes into my mouth...but I've been doing that for a couple of years now so that's easy for me. I did have about a week and a half in there where I didn't lose anything, but I knew I was doing everything right so I didn't worry too much.

Family support
I'm so sorry your dad isn't being supportive. I think you're right in saying that he has his own issues he needs to work out. Have you sat down and talked with him about how all this makes you feel? Maybe he doesn't actually realize he's doing it. I was very selective with who I told about my surgery, and only a few people know. I'm assuming you live with your parents, if so, of course you had no choice but to tell them. I just didn't/don't need to hear any negative about my decision. I didn't even tell my parents until 3 weeks prior to my surgery (I knew my surgery date for 2 months!!). My inlaws don't know, and may never know. They were so negative when I told them last year I attended an informational meeting about weightloss surgery. We're all here to support you, and we all know where you're coming from. Hugs to you!

small victories...
I just wanted to share a couple of small victories I've had the past few days. First the scale...I'm officially under 250lbs...249.4 to be exact, but it's been under 250 for 2 days so I'm saying it's official Next, I have a huge pile of clothes sitting at the bottom of my closet from when I lost weight 2 years ago (almost 80lbs)...I was planning on ebaying those clothes because I honestly didn't believe I'd ever wear them again. Wellll, Sunday I decided to pull some things out and I was able to fit right into a bunch of it!! I was thrilled! Have any of you had any victories yet you'd like to share?? Any goals you're close to reaching??

Is this normal?
First, congrats on moving on to full liquids I only had to be on clear liquids the day I came home from the hospital, and started full liquids the next day. From what I've read, burping is totally normal. I burp a lot now, sometimes it's embarrassing because it'll come out of no where! I also get a single 'hiccup' sometimes when I'm finished eating.

Back to work
My dr said 2 weeks, so that's what I took off. I personally couldn't have gone back in a week as I was still pretty sore, and felt worn out...but everyone is different.

Needed a pair of jeans....
That's fantastic!! Keep up the great work!

I wonder way there are so many different pre- op diets?
My doctor requires it to shrink the liver. It's easier for them to do the surgery since they have to move around it to place the band. For me personally, the 2 weeks on liquids prior also helped to prepare me for the liquid phase after surgery.

Throw that scale away!!!
I think as long as you're in the right mindset, and KNOW that the scale is not going to go down every single day, the scale can be a good, helpful thing! I personally find weighing myself everyday helps me stay on track, and it has also helped me get to know my body.

February 18th Surgeries!

Let's speak the truth
I'm a very tough cookie, and I felt pretty rough the first 4 days. I was wondering what was wrong with me! I was seeing that people were going back to work in less than a weeks time...there was NO way I could have done that, and I have a desk job!! I didn't have any of the gas pains that people talked about, but my incisions were so sore. I only took my pain med for the first couple days when I'd go to bed for the night, but that was it (I HATE taking liquid medicine!!!!) I started feeling better around day 5, and went shopping on day 8. Today I'm 3 weeks out, and I'm still dealing with some soreness where my port is, but that's about it. You'll keep feeling better and better everyday! Hang in there!
