  2. Got my approval today. Took only 2 days which I am so glad because I was stressing. I have a pre op class Sept 5th, liquid diet starts Oct 2nd and surgery on Oct 16th. Excited and nervous all at the same time.

    October sleeve

I have mine Oct 16th. I am so excited. Already warned my co workers (nurses) they will be waiting on me and if I need some fluids I am just pulling up into the parking lot lol. Nervous about what happens after but more excited to just get it done finally after so long

    Self Pay questions

I am looking into going to Mexico and maybe even through this website. However, I am wondering about payment. Unfortunately with past health care bills, I do not have the best credit. Did anyone else have this issue? I am trying to see if any surgeon will take payments for the bulk of the fee before and then the rest after. There is just no way I would be able to have the full payment anytime soon and my weight is becoming a bigger issue since I stopped smoking. Thanks for any advice
  5. Hey, I have been deciding on having surgery for a while now. I just switched from thinking about having the band to having the sleeve done. Now that I made up my mind, I am scheduled to meet with a surgeon next month. I know that I have to do the 3 month diet before I get approved. I am wondering if I can use Weight Watchers. I don't have a nutritionist in my area that is covered and my surgeon is out of state so I can't use theirs. I am hoping to have everything done and ready for a surgery date in April. Any advice on the Aetna process would be great. Thanks!

    Aetna and Weight Watchers.

From what I have learned, WW can count as your 3 month diet. You would have to ask about you specific plan but as long as you keep the sticker book with your progress, it should count
  7. I have finally set up my meeting with my surgeon after tons of researching and soul searching. I am happy to start this process. I have the appointment in two Weeks. I have a few questions I want to ask but was wondering knowing what you know now after the surgery, what questions would you ask before the surgery?

    what questions did you ask?

Oh no I switched from thinking of the band to having the sleeve. did you have lots of pain? I hear a lot of people say they didn't use their meds

    Aetna and Weight Watchers.

When I called before they told me to print out my policy and then my doctor can explain it. Yea that's no help. I read it and it says either 6 months supervised diet or 3 months supervised diet with visits to a nutritionist and personal trainer. I am hoping I can just do all this through my surgeon. I have heard that sometimes Aetna excepts WW as the diet which would be easier than traveling out of state to my surgeon every month for the weigh in.

    Aetna help

I am trying to do the Aetna 3 month program however there are no dietians around me that take Aetna. I know I have to see one with the surgeon but will that be enough to cover the requirement? Also I am stressing because I do not have 2 years of weigh ins on file BUT I have been overweight and basically the same weight and size since I was 16 or so. I just have been moving around a lot and haven't been to a PC in a while. I do have 3 weigh ins in the last 3 years. Has anyone had trouble getting approved because of the 2 year history? I am so nervous but I really want this surgery soon.
  12. Hi. My name is Jen and I have been looking at getting lap band for well over 5 years. I was even a few months away from getting it once but backed out. I felt like I should be able to do this on my own. Well here I am 5 years later and though I have lost 55 pounds I am not where I want to be. I want to be able to go on rides at Universal and not be embarrassed that the bar will not fit. This is my first step. I go in on Weds to talk to my surgeon and can't wait to get started on my new journey.
  13. Thank you. I had my first meeting today and with any luck I should be having my surgery in a few months. I am very excited.
  14. Thank you all. I know I will need lots of support and I look forward to being on here more and discussing my fears and journey
