Mushie Stage Woes
MM. Do you think that some of that could be muscle mass from working out so much? Muscle weighs more than fat, so maybe that's what's slowing you down, making you gain??? Just a thought.:cry:cry:cry Jackie

I haven't been on here for about 4 days. I just got a job working 2nd shift and it's kickin' my butt!!! My surgery went very well and so did my husband's. I got sick from the phenergan they gave me post op so I wasn't real coherent till about midnight that night (had my surgery at about 11:30 a.m. I think). Hubby was up and walking in the hallways at 4 p.m. or so. (he had his surgery at 10:30 a.m.). I was up from 2 a.m. till the morning off and on, walking the hallways about every 2 hours. The only real pain I had post op was my port incision (the pain is just uncomfortable, not really painful) and my hernia repair. It was so bad they had to stitch it up and I had more pain with that than anything else. Some gas pain in the shoulder too. Had to sleep sitting up on my sofa for the first 2 to 3 nights because it hurt to lay down. Hubby slept in bed from first night. He did so much better than me. I'm just a big baby I guess!! We've both lost about 43 pounds since May 20, when we first saw the dietician and started the pre-op diets. We have to go back to see the doctor in a month and I guess that's when he decides if we need a fill or not. We started on pureed/blenderized foods just this past Tuesday. It's okay I guess. I'm still eating Soup and drinking Protein drinks. I did have some mashed potatoes Tuesday and Wednesday and thought I had died and went to heaven!!!!! I've never really cared for mashed potatoes, but these were heavenly!!!! Tonight I'm fixing homemade mashed potatoes with blenderized chicken and dumplings. We'll see how that goes. It sounds yummy, I hope it is!! I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!:) Did the doctor say how long it would take for the approval once they sent everything in to the ins. company? I know it seems like forever, but let me tell you, once you're approved things move so fast it'll make your head spin. At least that's what happened with us. I love my band!!!!! I actually feel like I have an ally against food for the first time in my life. I don't regret the surgery one bit!! Best thing I've ever done for myself, and also learning of better, healthier things for me to eat. Type to ya later, Jackie

post surgical sexual intimicies
You all are too much!!!! How ironic I found this thread today of all days. My DH and I had surgery 2 hours apart on June 11, about a week ago. Shared the same room at the hospital and all. All the nurses and workers thought that was a REAL hoot-a co-ed hospital room!!!! That was a first for them!! Anyway, to get to my point...DH and I went to our post op appt today with doctor and after the appt., DH mentioned that we forgot to ask the doc about how soon we can have sex, and I piped up and said, "I wasn't gonna ask him, you ask him!!" Then we both laughed. Well this afternoon one thing led to another and we were both fine afterward. Sorry if this is too much info. I didn't swallow either so I can't tell you about that, but neither one of us are sore at port site or anywhere else.....:embarassed::embarassed::embarassed: Jackie

I just did a search for that group in Findlay. Go to Home - Blanchard Valley Health System and click on Bariatric Solutions on the left side of the screen, then click on support groups on left hand side. They have a phone number you could call to see if you could attend that meeting. Just thought you'd want to know. Jackie

Hi MellyWelly- Sassafras is from Findlay and she said she was going to attend the support group at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center. They already have a support group in place so you can probably go there. GIRL YOU ARE AWESOME-86 POUNDS IN 8 MONTHS?!?! I'M SOOOO PROUD OF YOU!! YOU MUST FEEL GREAT, HUH? I just got my band Monday afternoon and got home yesterday. I had mine done at St. Luke's Hosp. in Maumee by Drs. Duckett and Oweiss. Feeling pretty good today, but it was a little rough getting to this point. I had some kind of reaction to Fenergan and it made me quite nauseous and out of it. The gas has been terrible, but like everyone says-WALK, WALK, WALK.... So what kind of foods did you eat to lose that much weight? You are my idol!!!! I hope I do that well. Type to ya later, P.S. Let me know if you found out anything about the support group and if you went and how it was. There is also a support group at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee on the second Monday of every month (except July-they're not having one in July) from 6-7 p.m. Maybe I'll see you at that one. Let me know. Jackie Good luck on your continued success!!!:clap2::clap2::clap2:

Hi Lisa, Just wanted to type a few lines to let you know I'm back home. My husband is doing wonderfully-the turkey-he's only having pain around his port incision. He was up and walking around the night of the surgery. I had some kind of reaction to the fenergan (sp?) they gave me so I was really out of it until about 2 this morning. It was a very trying time with a few little bumps in the road (at the hospital), will type to you later when I'm feeling better. I'm feeling a lot better today, but the gas-OH MY GOD-MY GREATEST FEAR COME TRUE!!!! I've been using the heating pad and walking, that has helped a lot. Well, think I'm off to take a nap, this med is making me tired. Jackie

Hi Bubble- I hadn't even thought of pumps. I just used my Kahlua for the first time in some vanilla pudding. YUMMO-as Rachel Rae would say. (Yes, I WAS a food network fanatic-LOL!) So it's better to use the pumps? How much comes out in a squirt? I may have to invest in some of those too. I have 4 or 5 large bottles and 3 small bottles, but I'm sure I'll buy more as time goes by. My husband and I go tomorrow for our surgeries, he goes at 11:30 and I go at 1:30. I'm getting a little nervous, but that's probably the norm with most people. I'm also excited because I feel like I'm closing the old book of my life and starting a new one. You've REALLY lost a lot of weight. You go girl!!! Keep up the good work!! Jackie

Thanks Zannie for the info on the DaVinci syrups!!! I've just discovered them and didn't know exactly what to put them besides shakes. Thanks for the different suggestions on the protein drinks. I tend to be a boring person when it comes to that, not experimenting to see what goes with what. I love the taste of cinnamon. Does the syrup really taste like cinnamon? I had heard some others say it didn't taste that great, but I guess everyone has their own tastes, huh? I think I'm going to try it anyway. Again, thanks for the tips. Jackie

Dr. Timothy Duckett
Hi Lisa, Thanks for the support. I really need it right now. I dreamed this morning about my surgery, or I should say the time just before my surgery. All kinds of things were going wrong. I hope that's not a sign of what's to come. I wasn't too nervous till I had that stupid dream. I've just got to stay positive. It's probably a result of those wonderful liquids we've been on..... My husband and I weighed ourselves yesterday morning and he's lost 27 pounds and I've lost 26.8 pounds. Do they weigh you at the hospital before surgery? A lot of people on here have said they don't, so I just wondered. We're going to weigh ourselves at home before we go to the hospital just in case they don't. Today we're going to go get last minute things that we need. We're also picking up some movies and I have a good book to read so I guess we're as ready as ready can be. Thanks for the tips on the Ambien and Gas-X. We have the Gas-X, but I'll check on the Ambien. That's by prescription isn't it? I have been having a little ice cream at night, but not for the last 2 nights. I'm trying to find some Soups that are good to eat. Someone on here suggested these "Imagine" brand soups, and they're really yucky!!! At least the two we've had so far. I hope the other three I bought are better than the others.:biggrin1: We can call my mom if we need anything and I ran into my cousin (who is a nurse) last week and she also said if we need anything, just call her. So I think we're good on that also. Now, if my dogs just cooperate :dog: We should be home sometime in the afternoon on Tuesday so I'll try to type a short note when we get home. See you on the other side in BandLand!!!! Jackie:)

Hey girl, How ya doing? Good I hope. I had a GREAT Memorial day weekend. We went down to my son and daughter-in-laws for my granddaughter's first birthday. It was awesome. I love it when I get to spend any time with my little princess jelly bean (my nickname for her). Hope your weekend was good. Type to ya later, Jackie:D

Thanks KaraB, same to you. Have you already been banded or yet to be banded? Hi Janelle, have you been banded yet or to be banded? Hi Sassafras, my surgery is June 11th. All we have left to do is see the nurse for preop appt. Everything else is done. We've been doing the 1200 calorie diet for 2 weeks or so, went to the dietician last Friday and lost almost 16 pounds!!! :clap2::clap2::clap2: Happy, happy!!!! We have to start liquid diet on June 6th. I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed for you.:D

Sorry Lisa, I didn't catch the question before-I live in Weston near Bowling Green. If I'm not happy with D&O I might be willing to travel to Mansfield (probably 1 1/2-2 hours away) to get fills. Thanks for the info.

I'm glad all went well, but sorry to hear about the gas pain. That's what I'm worried most about. I've heard that from so many people on here. Today I had to take my husband Rick, to St. Lukes to have an endoscopy (where they stick a camera down your throat). Dr. Duckett came in before the procedure and said they saw something "weird" on the upper GI and wanted to take a closere look, it looked like a small pouch or something and the doctors said he might not be able to have the surgery...my heart sunk.:omg: When they took him into surgery for this, I just said a big prayer for everything to be alright. When Duckett came out after the procedure he said Rick was good to go, that it is just a slight hiatal hernia:clap2: :clap2: . I've had one of those for awhile and they're going to fix mine when they do the lap band, so they're going to fix Rick's too. Too much drama for me. LOL!! Anyway, I'm glad your doing mostly good.:guess Type to ya later, Jackie

Do you normally like fresh or canned fruit? I was just wondering, I was thinking about ordering some of the dried fruits too, but I'm not too fond of raisins. I know that's probably a stupid statement, but is the consistency of the fruits (like the pineapple and the blueberries) like raisins? Do they taste like the fresh fruits taste? I know these sound like stupid questions, but I'd like some input before I order them. I do like fresh pineapple, peaches, apples, blueberries, etc, but I just wondered if these tasted like that. I hope this makes sense.....duh:faint: Jackie

Hey, good to hear from you!! Sorry to hear of all your problems, but things will be fine. As my husband says, "Everything happens for a reason". I even believe that cause he's told me that so many times and it's true. We wanted our surgeries 2 weeks apart so we could take care of each other, well.....they scheduled us 2 HOURS apart!!! LOL!!! My husband and I talked about it with my mom and decided to go for it and have it done on the same day. We do everything else together, why not this too? Isn't that crazy? My mom is going to be helping us through this, bless her, she's an angel. She's taking us to the hospital and picking us up and taking us to our first doctors appt. I'm stocking up on food for the first 2 weeks or so...I guess I should say liquids, not food. Hopefully I'll have enough stuff so that we won't have to bug my mom to get anything for us. There was a list on one of the threads here that told of all the things you should get before surgery so you won't have to get it after. I found that very helpful. As I said before, keep me posted on your progress with the insurance and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.:gluck: Take care, Jackie

I hope I do too. Especially after some of the stuff I've heard about the gas pains. I'm sooo glad you're doing so well.

Night before my surgery!! Surgery 5/16!!
Thanks for the moral support. Really nervous that my husband and I are having surgery at the same time. My dogs like to get up on my stomach and chest.:phanvan That's really the only thing I'm worried about, that we can't pick them up to get them off if they sneak up on me. Sounds like you're feeling pretty good. That's great. :clap2: :clap2:

Night before my surgery!! Surgery 5/16!!
Congrats all. My husband and I are having surgery on June 11. We originally wanted to have the surgery 2 weeks apart, but they scheduled us 2 HOURS apart so we talked about it and decided to go for it. My mom is going to help us, God love her. She's an angel. I'm so excited I can't stand it. I've already lost some weight from the 1200 cal diet. My pants that were super tight on me are a little loose now. Yippee!! The only thing I'm nervous about is making sure we have everything that we need after surgery. I printed out the lists from another thread and have most of the things on it, but just have a few things left to get. I'm so happy for all of you who already had your surgery and excited for those of you like me, who are about to have surgery.

Okay, I read back a few pages and found the website you were ordering from. Bubble, you said you aren't a fan of fruit, but these were good? I don't care that much for fruit myself, but I'd like to try them. Just wanted to get some feedback on the taste from anyone else who has tried them.

Sorry, but I missed something. What snacks are you talking about? They sound interesting. Where can you get them? By the way, I finally received my order 2 weeks later. Not too bad I guess, but I still don't like the fact they didn't respond to my calls. Oh, well. I'll probably try them again, if I like the samples I got from them. Our surgeries are June 11th and I'm really nervous about making sure I have all that we need for at least 2 weeks after surgery.
