These last few pounds are tough but I can do it!!! Anyone else in the same position?

    17 more lbs.....

Wow! It's so great to know there are other people with very similar starting and current weights! My body finally started shedding lbs this week and I'm down to 161! It's funny that it coincides with a taking a break from super intense cardio. 11lbs to healthy weight - I'm sure it will be tough but feels more feasible than ever. Thanks for the tips on toning - such a great idea!!!
  3. Today marks 50lbs down! Feeling great! 22lbs to healthy weight 32 until goal!
  4. I had my last fill about a month ago (3cc original plus a 1cc fill) I had good restriction and then it waned a little and now it's weird: somedays I can barely eat and somedays I want to eat and can eat a lot! Does this restriction variation happen to you?
  5. Happy to report that today I weighed in at 179.8. As a 5'5" person that brings my BMI to 29.9 - officially OVERWEIGHT instead of OBESE. Looking forward to reaching HEALTHY at 149 or BMI = 24.8 And then a bit more to reach mid-healthy range.
  6. I been stuck at my weight (-1/+1) for the past 2 weeks and I am starting to feel really tired of it. I started a 99 challenge and have exercised the last 15/15 days. I feel better about exercising more and my body feels stronger, but no weight has dropped. I've tried raising / lowering my calories and raising / lowering my Protein to carb ratio. I've been a lot hungrier than normal (I was eating 600-800 calories a day for awhile and now I feel like I need 1000 calories or more to be satisfied). I feel like I have no restriction and am constantly hungry. I moved up my appointment to next Thursday, so hopefully I will get my first fill then. (My surgery was Dec 19, but they said I was losing enough weight not to fill at my first appointment) This month I am only down 4-5lbs so far, when I'm used to 10-20lbs. And even though I've lost 36lbs not on person other than my mom and fiancee have said a word about it. Cheer me up!

    Need some motivation!

Thanks for all the advice and love. You all are wonderful! Feeling much better!
  8. Who have you told and not told about your weight loss surgery? What do you say when people say "You look great - how'd you do it?" And on an unrelated note, what do you say to waiters and waitresses who think you hated your meal?
  9. Cynthia I am in a similar boat. People have way too many negative assumptions about WLS. I wish I was more honest because I feel like I could change their perception, but it's easier not to deal with it!
  10. I only eat a quarter or less of what I'm given at a restaurant (1 cup of 4 cups for example) and they often think I hated my meal and it's awkward, so I'm just asking if other people have had that experience. I'm not trying to perpetuate a myth.
  11. I'm over a month post-op. This morning I started the day with a greek yogurt, which is very typical. About 2 hours later I felt seriously nauseous. I've been continually nauseous every since. I've had a few hiccups but no throwing up, and some gas relief. I've stayed away from eating today because I feel so terrible [i had applesauce for lunch], but now I'm getting hunger and I feel like I should at least try to eat. Spoke with the PA at the surgeon who said as long as I'm not throwing up, my band is okay. I'm not sure whether I'm getting the flu or something else is going on. Anyone have a similar experience or have any suggestions?

    Sick Today: nauseous

Thanks for the tips! It went away but now it's back... It seems to be most prevalent when I get up and walk around, staying in bed helps / eliminates the nausea. Any idea what that might be?

    Sick Today: nauseous

Thanks to you all! I am feeling better after having some fork mashed sweet potatoes. I am also going to watch my water intake carefully to ensure I'm properly hydrated. Thanks!

  15. So I am 8 days post surgery and feeling pretty well back to normal! Onward in the journey of eating again... My question is: What does FULL feel like to you? In the past few days I've gotten back my hunger, and I've been eating and I'm just curious what full feels like for others. Right now I'm sort of trying to look for signs from my band, because full or even stop isn't really a feeling I've gotten yet. I just sort of stop eating when I think I should be full based on how much I think I should be eating. (A few spoonfuls etc) It was a lot easier last week, but now it's a little confusing. I don't want to overeat. So tell me! What's full feel like to you?
  16. Hi All - This is probably a stupid question- I'm not very good at body function stuff!! Since Friday I've had a consistent stomach gurgle that feels like my stomach grumbling like it would before when I'm hungry. It's the worst from 6-8pm at night and moderate in the morning. Is this gas that will go away or is it the new way my band and stomach processes Water and food? Shelby

    5 days post op

Congrats! We had the same surgery date! I'm starting to feel better soon finally.
  18. Thanks all for your input! Down the road, when your stomach gurgles is it uncomfortable like pressure and release of pressure, or does it just make weird noises? Thank yoU!

    Post-op Sex??

My doctor said 3 weeks, but I think that's because I had to stop taking birth control 10 days in advance, and can't start again until 10 days post. I think they're more worried about pregnancy than any physical damage - but who knows!
  20. My future in-laws (who don't know I recently had a lapband put in), my fiancee and my mom and I had been planning to go to Babbo (Mario Batali's Restaurant) for Christmas for awhile. I didn't know my surgery would be before this trip, but it was on Wednesday. I was super worried I wouldn't be able to eat anything, would look like a freak, and would throw up. But not so!!! I had 4 courses - 1 teaspoon each really One teaspoon of each of these - eaten in many tiny bites 1st course: seasoned mozzarella cheese (mashed with fork) 2nd course: pureed beef ravioli filling 3rd course: branzini (fish) in onion broth 4th course: olive oil ice cream I am so proud and happy that I was able to go out and make good choices with my new lapband. Ice cream is a strict no-no so I certainly won't make it a habit, but this was my only big night this season. Also I woke up this morning to find I've lost 17lbs since started the 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Good times with my band. Now I just want this gas to go away!!!
  21. kll724 It is so weird the different directions people get. Honesty I think I could happily do 20 more days of liquid considering I have absolutely no appetite... but it's nice to get some variety. Congrats to you and all of your family!
  22. Thanks FLORIDAYS! Yes it's so weird! I did 2 weeks pre-op liquid, liquids only on surgery day, and then I could go right into mushies. Maybe because I was outpatient and didn't have a stay in the hospital. Haven't had any problems with it either! It's really nice to be able to have something with a little texture, like delicious cottage cheese and hummus which are my favorite. Congrats to you on your AMAZING weight loss!

    20 pound lose finally

    you go!
  24. You should definitely go! If you're still in the mushie stage cutting the corner of ravioli and squishing it out the inside works really well. Fish is easily mushed and mozzarella is a good bet. It definitely doesn't meet the healthy requirements, but at least you don't over eat or throw up. I also planned everything before I went by looking at the online menu. We've been to Otto & Babbo in NYC and B&B Ristorante in Las Vegas. All have been amazing.
