  2. So I haven't posted in ages but after having been given a surgery date of 10/8/12 and then getting a call the it had been moved back to 10/15/12 I was a little disheartened. But it is tomorrow! I had to travel to a hotel tonight and leave my kids at home and I was emotional leaving. Had quite a cry. I'm going to be in the hospital until Friday or Saturday. I'm not having a sleeve... Im having a DS so it is a bit different but I'm sure some of the same emotions still apply. Driving past all the restaurants on the way up here was a little sad. I'm breaking up with food... And headed to a healthier me. Look for me tomorrow night or Tuesday.... I'll post how I'm doing. Good luck to everyone else who goes this week and thanks to all those who keep posting after theirs. It's great to have advice from people so soon out.
  3. Hi all, my date was moved from October 15 to October 8. Surgeon is dr. Leslie and I'm still having a DS. Nervous, excited... Doing some last minute shopping and having a food funeral or two today. I don't have a liquid diet. I have lost 34 lbs preop. Surgeon says that is why most drs require preop liquid diet is to have proven weight loss. He required weight loss of 5-10 percent before surgery is even scheduled. Good luck to all!
  4. They submitted all my paperwork to insurance which is health EOS and then Abbott said they would call as soon as they heard anything. Well, insurance actually called me to let me know and said they would be sending Abbott my approval but it might take up to a week for them to get it. My case manager said that she just wanted to let me know as soon as she knew. Now I just have to wait for Abbott to get the paperwork because they do not schedule a for sure surgery date until the approval is in hand.
  5. My insurance paperwork was submitted today and I got a call from insurance that I have been approved today as well! It's really real...

  7. I'm in the same boat right now. Last dietitian visit on September 11 and then submit for approval. My surgeon is in the hospital on October 15th and that is when I'm planning to have surgery at this point! Good luck!
  8. I'm 31 and mom to three kids: 6,5,2. My start weight was 325 but I'm now At 302. I have one dietitian visit left on sept 11 and then she will submit and hopefully get the approval and be able to schedule me. She said the surgeon is in the hospital on 10/15/12 so. I'm hopeful that will be my date! I'm actually having a duodenal switch (DS) but there isn't a specific board for that, so here I am. Doctoring at Abbott northwestern in Minneapolis, mn with dr. Leslie. For pre op diet, I was required to lose over 15 lbs and then do liquids for 2 days prior to surgery. We are planning a family vaca to Disney early next year and I'm looking forward to fitting on an airplane seat! What things are you looking forward to doing that you haven't been able to do for a long time or ever?

  10. Hi all, I am new here and I don't know if this is where I need to be or if someone can recommend another app for me to try. Here is my story: I am a 31 year old and I have decided to have a DS either in September or October. I have done nearly all of the pre-op requirements and have only one visit left with the dietitian in September and next week I meet with the surgeon for the last time. I have done my psych eval and my other dietitian appointments and any necessary bloodwork or testing required by my doctor. I was also told that I need to lose 15 lbs before they will schedule me for surgery. At my last dietitian visit, I was down 12 in two and a half weeks. I'm doing a lot of walking and eating mostly protein. I also have been using myfitnesspal app to track my intake and that seems to help. I guess I don't have any specific questions at this time. I would love to hear from anyone about their own experiences as well as any hints or suggestions you may have for me.
