  1. Great job girl. You are doing awesome! Your attitude is amazing and so inspirational. Keep going. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  2. Congratulations, and loopy is better than pain! That is so great, you've cleared another hurdle. I'm starting to get scared (surgery Sept. 11th) but my surgeon is great & I can't wait. Keep me posted on your progress and I'll do the same. Hey, you will be 5 days ahead of me. . .so I expect lots of good advice. Haha. Take care & heal quickly! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  3. 5 months for me. could've gone quicker. But we had a summer vacation in between. My insurance doesn't require 6 month diet, etc. I am about to start my liquid diet very soon, last surgeons consult Tuesday! Woo hoo. In total, I had to do the initial seminar, an initial surgeons visit for consultation/bloodwork. My physicians visit, my physicians physical, and a separate psych evaluation. Then pre-op testing - mine included bloodwork, X-rays, pulmonary (breathing tests) and an EKG. Then a visit with the surgery team and anesthesiologist. Oh and a nutrition class on lapband foods, Vitamins, etc. Whew! So far so good, so excited! Good luck to you on your journey. Hope it goes by quickly. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  4. Good for you!!! Keep it up. You can do it. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  5. That docs name sounds familiar! Hopefully your process goes quickly! And you get to get started soon. Good luck. For everyone here, I would love some local buddies. Maybe somewhere down the line we can get together once in awhile. Be nice to share stories, advice, and support! Good luck to all the new St. Louis area Banders!! 6. I almost busted my gut reading that! Haha. Most of us girls would be lying in a heap on the floor in tears after a comment like that! But glad you took in in stride. Guys definitely handle that kind of stuff differently. Congrats on your weight loss though. I'm sure your stomach looks awesome. haha. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  7. You were gorgeous before!!! Gorgeous now AND Healthier!!! Such an inspiration. And look at that smile! Thumbs up. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  8. Family services is not the only option like the above person commented! Call your local churches, food banks, etc. There are a ton of free or nominal care services in my area. Some offer free food, discounted groceries, canned goods, etc. We all need help sometimes and if it's for better health, it's worth it. Your life is worth it. Explain you situation to the care worker, they can probably keep directing you to other people who can help. Good luck and best wishes. If you need my help looking up some information on this stuff, PM me and I'll send you a list & numbers to call in your area. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  9. Awe! So sorry about that pain! I have been writing all this stuff down I read on the forum! I have an arsenal of tools and food and GasX ready to go for my surgery! But I have the benefit of all of you who went before me! I am glad the GasX works. So impressed you had the gumption to get out there and walk. Take it easy, heal slowly, and be healthy. You'll be feeling better in no time. So you can be here to give me post op advice, real soon. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  10. Yes, turns out my scheduler has a funny method of keeping track of things or amnesia! Keeps telling me I've already had appts. And testing, that I haven't. She also has the ability to leave invisible, silent message on my phone. Haha. It's all good, I'm just excited now! Wheeeee! My final visit with surgeon is next Tuesday, the 4th. He will schedule my surgery that day & I will start my Protein diet shortly after I see. I feel so lucky, as I just went to my first lapband seminar in April & got the ball rolling! I can't wait! 11. There's been a 2 wk. lull in making progress toward scheduling my surgery. I had my pre-op testing and nutrition class. That was the last step in my process, just needed to see the surgeon 1 last time. I'm just hoping they haven't run into any issues. I have left a few messages and hopefully someone will call soon and tell me everything is good & we can proceed. I'm so anxious to get started!!!! Wish me luck. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  12. I will keep these for my Do's list. Thanks so much for the advice. I am always looking for suggestions! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

  14. And checking them twice! I just realized 4 months away. Wow, that's going to be interesting!? After-lapband!!! Here's what I need from anyone who has a suggestion! I'm making laminated lists to put on my fridge! I've heard lots of lapband dont's in the past few days. So I guess I'll start there. If you have any important or helpful lapband dont's!!!! Please add them here. I appreciate it do much! #1 - Never chew gum! If it gets swallowed accidentally, it will get stuck & have to be surgically removed. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  15. Thank you for your positive reply! I've been kind of moody lately! Your reply made me smile big and feel proud I'm starting this journey. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  16. Don't chew gum at all!! I've heard if you accidentally swallow it, it has to be removed surgically. Do they still make those little melting breath strips?! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  17. That's fantastic! Your team works fast I am done with pre-op testing and just need my final doc visit!!! Then 2 weeks liquid and Protein shakes. I'm getting so anxious, but in a good way! I want to get started instead if just talking about it. Good luck to you with everything & I'm sure we will meet on here again. We are being banded around the same time. Hurray!
