  1. I was banded in June '07. I've been doing fine since then, except that last week I got what I thought was a stomach bug (not so sure about that now.) I'm having pain in my stomach and anytime I eat I get nauseous. My mom is convinced I either over-ate at Thanksgiving and hurt my band or I'm pregnant. Ignoring the pregnant thing for a minute, has anyone else had this type of problem this far out from banding. I'm fine as long as I don't eat. Just tired. If I eat anything or drink anything other than Water, I feel horrible. (I'm ruling out the pregnant thing because that would only explain the nausea, not the pain in my stomach.)

    Better Than Bouillon

What you have to watch with Better than Boullion is that some of them list their protein in milligrams (mg). Our protein intake is measured by grams. So I think part of the confusion is the jar is saying 32mg, which only equals .032g of protein. 1 milligram = 0.001 grams Just FYI, hopes this helps.

    Also from Oklahoma

I got insurance approval this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited I can't hardly stand it. I feel like maybe things are going to start getting better for me.....finally!
  4. I'm 25, from the Tulsa area, and i'm hoping to have surgery sometime this year. I'm using Dr. Fisher at Surgical Associates in Tulsa. I've been trying to get insurance approval since last summer. I'm choosing the lap band for a few different reasons: it's safer for pregnancy, it's cheaper, and the recovery time is less. At this point I'm really just trying not to lose hope. I was supposed to know by the end of February if I was approved, but they came up with 2 more test they wanted done before they would approve me. *Sigh* I've been doing pretty well on the low carb diet though. Have lost 12lbs so far just doing that. I looked around the site for a couple of days before joining. I was really impressed by everyone, and so grateful for all the pics everyone has posted. I had been wondering for a while about scars so those pics were especially helpful.
  5. Have you tried Quinoa? It's supposed to be pretty high in protein. I haven't tried it yet, but i'm planning to. Go to www.quinoa.com if you want more info about it. Let me know if you try it, and i'll do the same.
  6. I am right there with you! I'm scared to death, because I don't know what I'm going to do if I don't get approved. We just have to hang in there I guess, and not loose hope. Good Luck!

    Tips for a new runner?

I have always wanted to run, but have never been able to. But I've always heard that you can't run if you have flat feet. Well, besides my weight, and my knee and ankle problems, I have flat feet. So even if I loose the weight, will I ever be able to become a runner?
  8. It was probably Dr. Katsis. I already had my consult with Dr. Fisher. I liked him a lot. He was very open and honest about everything. When I first started thinking about surgery I wanted the whole bypass, but when I had my consult, Dr. Fisher suggested the band since I want more children someday. So after talking more with him, and doing some more research on my own, I changed my mind. I'm really glad he mentioned it, otherwise I don't think I would have even considered it. He really impressed me. And his nurse Anita is really great. I call her all the time with questions.
  9. I live in the Tulsa area and I was wondering which seminar you attended. I've seen Dr. Fisher with Surgical Associates.
