Flying into San Antonio on the 26th and having surgery with Dr Alvarez on the 28th. Its so reasuring to hear so many wonderful things about him. He even responds to my tweets...answering every question I have. Good luck to everyone . Three week liquid diet is kicking my ass even as I write this. 10 lbs down 3 days into the liquid diet so far.....still got 175 to go though. Thanks for everyone's posts

I looked last night but could not find a thread for Dr Alvarez. Would it be good to have one for all of Dr alvarez's patients?

Jenn, I do not see it as rude, I would be glad for someone to reach out to me in this situation. I simply said to mine that we will be having surgery on the same day and that maybe it would be nice to communicate a bit before we get to San Antonio. I told her my name and my age, explained that we would be riding in the van to San Antonio together and staying at the hotel, then riding to MX, just didn't want that to seem awkward for either of us. My sleeve sister is real nice and we are friends on FB now. We don't talk every day but she explained to me that her BIL has had surgery with Dr. A and that is why she is going there. At least we will know each other a little before we arrive in San Antonio. I talk to strangers every week at our church as a door greeter, so I guess I am used to that.
For me, if it were a man, I would be real insecure about making contact.

Thought I would start a thread for the august sleevers going to Dr. A. I hope that we can all share our experiences.

I heard back from the Dr. He said that it wont effect me having the surgery.. whew... it was a anxious weekend for me! Thanks for the input !

Hello! I am new to posting here.. I have been reading and reading and thought it was about time I got involved! I am going to be sleeved on 8/27 by Dr. Alvarez in mexico. I have Aetna insurance, but they will not approve me ... I have to wait for 2 more years till I can show that my BMI has been consistently over 40. I have been up and down my whole life, but I have never been this heavy. I just could't bear the thought of having to stay at this weight just to get approved. I will be forty years old in a few months and I think its time to take my life back and not wait on Aetna. I am nervous, excited, worried.. all the emotions you could possibly have. I unfortunately am going alone to mexico ... anyone fall in the same category? Any other 8/27 sleevers? I don't know a soul that has had this surgery and only know one that has had gastic bypss so I am hoping for a comforting crew here on VST! You all seem so positive and helpful....
