  1. I will be spending 2 nights in the hospital.. fine with me.. I would rather be there as I get use to my new stomach: ) 10 days of liquids before the surgery as well. I am on day 2 .. ok so far : ) I already find myself getting bored.. its amazing how much food or meals fill your day..
  2. Thats funny ... I went home to have cream of chicken soup for lunch! Then I realized it WASNT the 98% fat free kind... so I guess I am off to the store this weekend for that. I am stopping at a chinese restaurant on my way home from work for chicken broth. I will trick myself into believing its WON TON soup.. not just the broth : ) Whatever it takes : ) I am going to visit family this weekend and will be around my nieces. And taking them to a carnival. So I will be around a lot of JUNK food, but it doesn't really interest today. Next week it might be more tempting, so I am glad I am getting it out of the way now... Good job on the weight loss!! That is a great start! And I am sure it will help with the surgery... and no worries.. ramble all you want!
  3. You are flying in on the 26th? Maybe we will see each other then. BUt yes, You will probably see me shuffling down the hall with my IV pole : ) Today is day 1 of the liquid diet.. I have to do 10 days. I have been drinking Protein shakes for Breakfast for about a week now, and sometimes for lunch, so THAT part isn't too much of a shock. dinner.. now that will be tricky. How are you doing on the preop?
  4. Hello! I am an August 27th sleever as well ... started my liquids today... How is everyone doing on the pre-op diet?
  5. Hello! I am having my surgery with Dr A on the 27th.. maybe we will get to see each other!
  6. Hello... my surgery is in a few weeks, and I was curious if Kefir is allowed. For those that don't know, its a drinkable yogurt..just a little thicker. It has protein in it, but I know there are carbs and sugar in it. Just thought it sounded good for post op... any thoughts?
  7. Good luck to you allnewme! We will all be thinking of you on Thursday! Let us know how you are doing when you get there!!
  8. Hello all.. I am an August 27th sleever.. I like this smaller post... The other one I read is up to 40 something pages? Hard to keep up ith it! I don't start my liquid diet until 8/17, but I have already stocked up on Protein shakes and beverages from Dr. A's list. I haven't been emotional.. YET.. but I did tear up a little when I started reading those 15 emails from Susan.. it was REAL then. I think it was nervous tears because I am going alone and the thought of coming out of sedation and not seeing a family member shook me up a little. BUT, I know this is what I need to do....
  9. I heard back from the Dr. He said that it wont effect me having the surgery.. whew... it was a anxious weekend for me! Thanks for the input !
  10. I just set my date for surgery and got some blood work back showing a really high c-reative level. I emailed Dr. Alvarez's office to ask if I might not be able to have the surgery.... I was hoping for a " well of course you can still have the surgery!" email back and I didn't... I need to wait to hear what the dr says.. soo nervous now.. anyone else with high levels before surgery?
  11. Hello All ... I am an August 27th sleever from upstate NY and just wanted to join the group! So many posts to catch up on, but so glad to be part of such a positive bunch! I am sure I will have lots of questions.. can't wait!
  12. Hello! I am new to posting here.. I have been reading and reading and thought it was about time I got involved! I am going to be sleeved on 8/27 by Dr. Alvarez in mexico. I have Aetna insurance, but they will not approve me ... I have to wait for 2 more years till I can show that my BMI has been consistently over 40. I have been up and down my whole life, but I have never been this heavy. I just could't bear the thought of having to stay at this weight just to get approved. I will be forty years old in a few months and I think its time to take my life back and not wait on Aetna. I am nervous, excited, worried.. all the emotions you could possibly have. I unfortunately am going alone to mexico ... anyone fall in the same category? Any other 8/27 sleevers? I don't know a soul that has had this surgery and only know one that has had gastic bypss so I am hoping for a comforting crew here on VST! You all seem so positive and helpful....
