Why do i feel like i can eat a Cow?!?
If it helps you, I am 18 months out and 3-4 ounces of dense protein makes me full. Yup- still working. However, anything that is not dense protein I can eat a lot of. It is at these times I wish 3 ounces of oatmeal filled me up. Start now, while you are a young sleever, and learn how to eat the right portion size even when the sleeve does not help you. The power of good habits will help you with hunger related decisions down the road.

Gym Rats: Daily supplement list?
We make a good pair then. You with your inflexible knees and I with my inflexible shoulders. Lol. My squats are actually pretty good as we get a chance to do them in some variation or another almost every y day. Key is to keep weight in heels and drive with the butt, not the knees. Flexibility in a deep squat actually comes from two places of motion: hip and ankle dorsiflexion. I am getting pretty good hip dorsiflexion from squat practice as well as certain stretches and rolling. However, sitting in a chair all day works against me so it is a constant resetting every day so I can maintain the hip mobility. My ankle dorsiflexion is still a bit stiff and prevents perfect vertical stacking. I am close though.

I start Phase 2 of my diet tomorrow and I still have no desire for food, is that normal?
Yes, quite normal. For some, they experience this lack of hunger for years and for others not at all. And then there are most of us who start to get the hungers again after month 5 or 6. Everyone is different. Enjoy the ride!

CPAP, you are fired!
The noise could be from how dated the technology is in the machine. When I first got mine in 2012, the medical device experts told me there had been a lot of improvements to the technology to make it quieter. If the noise is coming from the tubing or mask and not from the machine directly, you may want to look into replacing those.

Help needed: overhead weakness
I am thinking it is either a rotator cuff issue, or a bursitis tendinitis issue. Planning on going in to xray it very soon so I can get the ball rolling so to speak. Hope it is something that can be fixed with out surgery. It has been going on for what seems like forever and it is kind of embarrassing to be this strong guy and fumbling around with such low weights on the overhead lifts when all these smaller girls are lifting so much more. Well maybe it is not so much about that. It is more about the insanity of making zero progress in this area of lifting after months and months and months.

Uhm... Ate half of a
If you did not have any issues with the chicken salad at 7 weeks, good for you! That is past the usual 5-6 week criteria that most doctors prescribe before one can start in on solids. I remember my first chicken salad at around 3 months. It was hard to eat. Today, no issue whatsoever. You will want to watch out for problem symptoms like sliming, uncomfortable fullness or, worse, throwing up. If any of those happen when you are trying new found dishes then do yourself a favor and wait a few weeks or a few months until eating the food item is comfortable. There is no shame in trying new things, but do pay attention to how your body reacts.

Help needed: overhead weakness
Friends of the fitness forum. I need your help to diagnose an issue and perhaps offer some approaches to fix it. I know there are several lifters who have been lifting Iron much longer than I as well as physical therapy and perhaps fitness professionals among you. With your collective knowledge and practical experience, I think you can help me. Quite frankly, I have a profound weakness in lifting overhead. Even though I have been doing all sorts of progressional lifts of different styles over the last year, I have made no progress, or worse, negative progress. For example, I can not even do a 65# shoulder press without discomfort and very little strength. Here is a representative list of overhead lifts I struggle with: Push press Push jerk Split jerk Sn@tch Power Sn@tch Overhead squat Thruster My execution at all of these are leaving me wanting to give up on overhead lifts. However, these are so core to cross fit that I look silly not even being able to push press 65# without pain and struggle. If I cannot do these, it is going to hinder any real progress for me. I have zero power overhead. Zero. it is sad. The primary issues when lifting overhead: 1. Inability to lock out arms 2. Inability to rotate shoulder even to vertical. Needs to rotate beyond vertical behind my head. 3. Pain in left shoulder 4. Pain in left bicep (side of upper arm) 5. Left bicep an delts are much underdeveloped compared to right bicep. I am not weak in terms of other lifts: 1. Front squat max: 205# 2: back squat max: 275# 3: deadlift max: 315# 4: bench press max: 250# I can make use of my shoulders in other functional ways: 1. Push ups 2. Pull ups 3 rowing 4. Wall ball tosses 5. Kettle bell swings 6. And more I do these well in terms of athletic skill, endurance, stamina and focus. These use my shoulders and arms in a way that there is power. I do spend a lot of time daily on mobility stretching using bands and PVC pipes. I also have fixed my general standing and sitting posture in the last 2 months ( it was severely messed up). I fixed my posture through the course of wearing a posture correcting shirt. It has worked wonders to align my shoulders and thoracic regions so I can do the squats and deadlifts correctly. All the other functional movements got a lot easier after fixing my posture to be one of stability and strength. I know my frontal muscles and ligaments are tight and short. That is why my arms cannot lock out overhead nor can they rotate back or even be held straight up and down naturally against the head. I went through months of PT at the end of last year, but I am still stuck with this issue. I so desperately want to get past these mobility and pain issues so I can start making real progress with the overhead lifts above. I do not think this is a nutritional or supplement issue. Both are handled well by me. I think it is a mobility issue. I have read the supple leopard book in addition to a lot of other flexibility books. I put a lot of it into practice like yoga stretches and things like stretching in a door jam or using bands to stretch out upper body. Help? All thoughts, ideas and suggestions are welcome. I really want this issue to go away.

BodyPump is awesome!
You both are right and my comments are not backed by enough research (only one you tube video). Keep up the great work.

BodyPump is awesome!
Looks fun, but the weights look on the light side. Also, based on a you tube video I watched, the instructors are not paying the close to body form of individuals as they lift. Flat back, shoulders pulled back, that sort of thing. However, this looks like a good approach for someone new to lifting and wanting toning benefits without the cost of a personal trainer or the confusion of a free weights area in the gym. I am curious though. What kind of weights are they expected to lift in these classes. In the video, it looked like 35# or something around that. It would be hard to build strength or change your body composition with that load.

amino acid supplements for workouts?
Tried taking the modern after working out yesterday and feel great this morning. Very little soreness remains that I felt yesterday evening. I also took some this am on rising. From my understanding, it is best to take at those two times for recovery purposes. I will use the xtend per and intra workout as well as on rest days. I think the modern does a better job at recovery than xtend, but I have only one day of experience.

I think meijer is more of a general product retail type store of products in the midwest. At least that is what I gather from looking at their website.

February 2014 Fitness Challeng
For February, I want to do 10 hand stand push-ups completely against the wall. No more box hand stand push-ups for me. I am unable to do 1 wall hspu right now because my shoulder strength is weak. For January, my challenge was to do 50 unassisted pull-ups, and, I did it today! Better late than never. They were actually 50 chest to bar pull-ups, which requires chest to hit bar instead of chin.

abdominal work out ideas?
One group Ab activity we like to do as a group on Saturday morning is called "the ring of fire." I know, sounds ominous doesn't it? It essentially involves a group of people sitting in a ring ("a circle") where each person picks an ab routine that lasts for 10 seconds (or longer if you wish) followed by a hollow body hold for 10 seconds. Some choices might be scissors, regular plank, side planks, situps, vups and more. It is fun to do as a group and the time passes pretty quickly. The more people in the ring, the merrier.

Maintainers, what is your carb level/intake like?
Read the following article titled "Why Lifting Weights Lets You Eat More Carbs and All About Metabolism": http://www.fitnessbaddies.com/why-lifting-weights-lets-you-eat-more-carbs-and-all-about-metabolism/ It is written in the style of bro science and easy to follow, but I feel it answers so many questions surrounding the dietary consumption of carbohydrates for weight loss and weight lifting. It is a bit of a long read, but well worth it. I feel it goes beyond all the colloquialisms we love to use when talking about carbohydrates.

I don't know. Not really a fan of the taste on the modern. What kind of results do you get from GAT? Looks like a really good product after pursuing their web page.
