About Me

  • Gender
    Male
I'd rather not give my name just to preserve the privacy of my identity. Nonetheless, I will tell you all a little bit about myself. I am a 25 year old male, born in Miami, Florida and raised by Cuban parents. About a year ago, I had a baby boy and he has taken over my life and my heart. I am also a law student, Juris Doctor Candidate 2013. Between school and the baby, my weeks are pretty busy. I am also married to a wonderful Brazilian woman.

I am inarguably a sports maniac. I follow the NBA, NFL, MLB, NCAA Football, NCAA Mens Basketball, Soccer in both Europe and International, and I enjoy the UFC. My teams are the Miami Dolphins, The 2012 NBA Champion Miami Heat, the Miami Marlins, the Miami Hurricanes for both NCAA sports, Barcelona for La Liga, USA for International soccer. I also root for Spain and Brazil whenever USA is eliminated or not participating. As far as the UFC goes, I am a Jon Jones fan, not because of his recent prominence, but because he seems to be a stand up guy outside of the Octagon.

Why did I decide to get surgery: Well, while being uncomfortable with myself often inspired me to research and consider the surgery, it was never enough to push me through to a first consultation and finally deciding to move forth with the procedure. Over the course of the last couple of years, my life has taken a drastic change, all for the better, but the changes essentially led me to finally decide to go through with it. The changes were the fact that I was accepted into and successful in law school, and the birth of my child.

My discomfort with myself has led to me distancing myself from many friendships and relationships that aren't familial. The legal profession requires networking and socializing. It is part of the job. In order to successfully and comfortably engage in events and networking opportunities, I need to feel comfortable with myself.

Further, my son was the more driving force to this surgery. I want to teach my son how to ride a bike, how to throw a baseball or football around, or shoot a basketball. I want to teach him to swim. I want to teach him to do many physical activities, and at this very moment, my physique would not enable me to do this. Running outside, sometimes even standing outside for too long gets me winded and fatigued.

Ultimately, this is a change of lifestyle and I fully intend to change my life for the better. Although it may seem like I have enough motivation, I'm sure that I will need more. The help and communication, advice and comfort from the people in this forum would greatly be appreciated throughout this process. I will certainly do the same when I can, and as I gain more knowledge about this process, perhaps I can be the one guiding another new member among us.

Thanks for having me, and I look forward to meeting you all.
