Can I ask please what are you doing exactly that has made you so successful? I was banded on 3/07 and have gained 5 pounds. My band is tight where I do have to watch what kinds of food to eat. I am just frustated at still being hungry all the time.:cool2:

I would have gone to Mexico either way. I chose Dr. Ortiz on his credentials not price. He is way more experienced than most doctors in the United States.

They all are very nice and Dr. Ortiz is a cutie! Plus he is a great surgeon.

I finally went for my first fill yesterday and got 2cc in my 10cc VG band which I know is hardly anything. When I was doing the barium swallow I could not tolerate 3cc or 2.5cc so he only put 2cc which was fine but I am still very hungry. My question is does it sometimes take time to feel the restriction or am I screwed until I get another fill? This would suck if I don't feel any restriction because I can't afford another fill until next month. Thanks, Stacy

I live in San Diego and as I was driving down the freeway I saw a van that had an ad for weight loss surgery in Mexico, so I decided to start researching. I had my band placed a month later. Stacy

Good! Of course you don't meet the weight criteria. Don't you read the posts from everyone else? Please take the information given to on these threads and make a better decision for your own health and safety.

What is really sad is if this person really goes through with this and she comes home with tons of problems and gets butchered. There is only so much you can do to help someone and open their eyes. Stacy

Mya, Did you read everything on Betancourt? First of all the surgery was not designed for someone like you. It is for obese people. Second if you read everything and researched Betancourt you would never have your surgery there. This is very immature.

I take about 12 pills at night and I do not need to crush them. I have not had any problems. I have not had a fill yet either.

Personally I would go with Dr. Ortiz and Obesity Control Center. I think he has a much better reputation. You can do a search on both.

Old navy doesn't have that big of sizes though. I wear guy clothes so I buy from a big and tall store called Casual Male. Or I just buy Dickies shorts. Stacy

I too am sorry for what has happend to you, but I have heard nothing but bad things about Betancourt and I have not been on this board for very long. I went to Mexico and was very happy and still am very happy with the treatment I recieved. The surgeon that I chose(Dr. Ortiz) has a lot of experience and I never heard one bad thing about the guy. I would go to Mexico again. Plus I am only ten minutes from his office! Stacy
