Alcohol?
Oh the docs advise also included taking my PPI before alcohol

Alcohol?
I've had a wine, vodka and clamato, vodka and lemonade, rye and water...not all at once on different occassions! It just doesn't seem the same as before I never actually ended up finishing any of them but I felt like I was taking part. I did not feel the fast dizzy effects that some speak of but I'm sure it's different for everyone. My docs plan says I can have a drink after 30 days just with all the calorie warnings ect that everyone has heard. I'm lucky lately if I get 600 cal in daily anyway so I counted the cocktail in my calories for the day. My only other worry was that when I drank in the past I would lose my food portion control...muchies and I would'nt want to unwittingly put myself in that position right now. But so far I haven't felt like more than one drink anyway.

What's Your Story? The One That Made You Take The Sleeve Leap...
My husband went along with me but there where several other patients there on their own. I would not hesitate going alone knowing what I know now. When I booked the surgery I fully intended to go by myself but my husband had the time available to accompany me (and he never turns down a trip to MX even if he had to sleep on a couch for three nights) I'm happy to answer any questions you have if you want to message me.

Mushie
My doc recommended if I had progressed to a food or stage that did not agree with my sleeve to back up to liquid for a few days. He said a stomach that is irritated or upset will be that way for one or two days. So maybe it's not all mushies but the particular mushie you had disagreed with you and your tummy needs a day or two to recover before trying again. I don't know if vomiting will hurt your sleeve but I can imagine it's not good for it to go through that trauma too soon and too often. Hope you feel better soon.

I Want Salty And Flavor!
Do you take a PPI? Is refux from spicy food something you are afraid of or have you already experienced it? I have been eating any and all spice for the past couple of weeks (even cottage cheese gets curry in my house). I don't think I'd eat a big ole hot pepper to challenge the stomach gods but I for sure have not given up flavor. We use Himalayan salt it has many health benefits, helping to keep the body in balance, without the negative things that come along with regular processed table or sea salt. So I don't feel bad about adding it to my food, in fact its good for you. I think I know how you feel, there's not much room so what I'm eating better be worth it nutritionally and taste wise! I take a PPI morning and night as prescribed by my doc for the first 3 months, maybe that is what is saving me from heartburn but so far I feel like I can tolerate pretty much all spice and flavor.

Fresh Veggies/salads
I am 6 weeks out and I had a small salad (under a cup probably 1/2) last week. It was delish and I was craving it. I had, had 80g of protein that day already from bfst and lunch so I wasn't worried about that. But if I had to fit protein in too it would have been a challenge. I didn't experience any negative effects.

What's Your Story? The One That Made You Take The Sleeve Leap...
I couldn't take the "yo-yoing" anymore. I cut the string to the darn thing!! Like you I enjoy my exercise, it's just hard to stick to when you're over weight and feeling it's effects. I have never had trouble losing weight when I set my mind to it. I've lost the same 60-80 pounds over and over again. I have always struggled keeping it off. I've had a trainer, last year I did P90X for 90 days, I've eaten clean, I've done all the right things...for awhile. About four years ago I started to investigate WLs surgery as a permanent tool/solution. My insurance would'nt cover me as my BMI was just 35 with no co-morbities. I dropped the idea. This June I started to get serious about losing the weight again and decided I wasn't going the same route. I didn't call my PCP, I didn't go to any seminars, I didn't run it by a whole lot of folks. I made the decision to make the surgery appointment with Dr. Aceves bought the plane ticket and haven't looked back. Personally I have struggled with this too long, and I don't want to waste another year wishing for a different result from doing the same thing over again. With every pound I lose I feel like I am, for the first time, kissing it good-bye forever. I'm going to use this tool for my future and I'm confident in my decision. I highly recommend Dr. Aceves and his team. The facility (Almater Hospital is top notch) and his team is highly qualified, in my opinion. I am only 6 weeks out, I have a way to go on my journey but my life is changing for the better everyday (Even today when I took that painful one bite past my full mark!!) You are right, we don't know what they might know in 10 years about the sleeve. I thought about the same thing. We do know today the ill effects of obesity. For me, I didn't want to spend the next 10 yrs waiting to find out. I wanted to live my life to the fullest in the mean time. Good luck to you as you consider your options, its a big unreversable decision, but for me, I am so glad I've done it.

Vegetarian, What Is It? And Who?
Vegetarianism is absentence from eating meat (any meat...no birds, no fish, no seafood, no beef, no pork all of these are meats). Lacto-Ovo Vegetarians supplement their diet with dairy products and eggs. Vegans do not eat meat or any animal products (dairy or egg derived). Many people call themselves flexitarians these days adding fish, animal products, or lean meats when they feel their bodies or lifestyle requires it. There are benefits to being selective about the meats that you eat but in the end if it was a living animal/fish at some point it is meat! Theres no getting around it.

Isopure- Liquid Protein
http://www.luckyvitamin.com/p-232400-natures-best-isopure-zero-carb-rtd-variety-pack-12-bottles I drink one everyday. I like the zero carb & 40 gram protien and 20oz liquid I get from it. This place has the Variety pack for $39 I order 3 at a time to get free shipping. Some one did describe it the other day as drinking "fruit flavored dryer lint" which cracked me up but I guess it's different for everyone.

Can't Afford Plastics :,(
One month out means you have probably had little chance to change your body/skin situation through exercise and weight training. I know I was only released to walk in the first 4 weeks and gradually increase activity doing ab and crunches after 8 weeks so maybe there will be some work you can do at the gym to combat some of the problems. It might not fix everything but could bring you a long way to being happy with the new smaller you! At least that's what I'm hoping for with my own situation

First Plateau... 6.5 Weeks Out
I lost 28 pounds in the first 30 days and I have been at the same weight now for the past 10 days. I'm trying not to get too frustrated. I know I'm following all of the guidelines so it has to come off eventually but it's frustrating for sure!! Can't wait for the scale to start moving again. I've stopped weighing everyday I hope to get a nice surprize next time I get on.

Where Is Incision?
Gastric Sleeve Mine: 4 incisions laproscopic plus drain hole....I would say they are in a wide diamond shape on my abdomen. Top one: two inches below my bra line Bottom one: 1.5-2 inches above my belly button If I put my thumb on the top incision I can reach the bottom or the side incision with my index finger. I have no idea if they are simuliar for other folks. I wore a bra and comfortable t-shirt home (12 hour travel day in total including two plane rides) and shorts with a comfortable stretchy waist with underwear. In hospital I wore the gown day one, and a pair of pj bottoms and t-shirt day 2 and 3. I don't blame you for not watching a video, those things creep me out too! Have a good surgery and speedy recovery to you!

10 Days Post-Op Need Advice
Good job getting in all your liquids I'm 5 weeks out and yet to get in a full 64 oz in one day!! I've stopped weighing myself everyday, I know as long as I'm doing the right things the weight has to come off. And I have always been addicted to the scale. Today was my day to weigh and I got my period yesterday so I'm doing myself a favor and not getting on until its over! Because without even getting on I know I gained some water weight, retaining fluid. I've had a day here and there when I had that queasy yucky feeling trying to drink my morning protein, I think I know what you mean. But I did my best with the rest of the day and on average I hit 70-80g of protein so I don't sweat the occassional morning that my tummy doesn't want to cooperate.

Pj's Or Nightgown For Hospital Stay?
Funny I can't remember if I wore underwear or not??? I know I put clean ones on to go to the hospital that morning...hmm I wonder who took them off? Maybe I did, I'm pretty sure I woke up with them on. Once you're in lala land you won't really feel weird or anything for that matter

Idk I'm Gonna Ever Enjoy Food Anymore
I know every doc's post-op diet is different but at day 13 I was still on liquids and most of them (if not too thick) agreed with me. If I tried something too dense at the two week stage it did not agree with me. I looked at those first few weeks as a big opportunity to let my tummy heal and my body let go of weight while on liquids. I didn't eat any solid food until after 30 days. If you feel hungry consider you may be dealing with some stomach acid especially if you are eating things that don't quite agree with you yet. Are you on a PPI (nexium or something like that)? Cream of Mushroom soup (mushroom bits removed) cream of asparagus, cream of brocolli made with water where my friends at about 2 weeks out and kept me feeling full 2or 3 oz at a time. Good luck to you hope some of these suggestions help. Like Tracey said...Hang in there, it gets better, don't rush it!

I Have A Feeling I'm Going To Be Difficult Lol
Day one I stayed in my gown...easier with the IV than trying to get a t-shirt on. Morning of day 2 I was in my sweats and a t-shirt with my IV unhooked...so where most of the folks in the unit. Mid morning of day two I had a shower put on a pair of shorts and took a number of walks around the block, circling the nurses station can get a little boring.

Vegetarian/vegan & The Sleeve
http://www.shakeology.com/the-shake/-/dl_get_file/46e2ddef-1eca-4307-87d7-cebd191bbdd8 If you are looking for a vegan shake, Beachbody's Shakeology in Strawberry is now Vegan. It is a little expensive but I think my breakfast is worth $4. It may have a few more carbs than you are looking for but it is a super food rich with nutrients. I have used Shakeology for awhile and discovered the Vegan Strawberry while doing Beachbody's Ultimate Reset pre-op. I have only been getting in 400-500 calories post op and so I have returned to my Shakeology to up my nutritional intake. I'm on whole foods but I'm struggling to eat enough right now. Anyway the link to the supplement facts is above if you are interested.

Give Me An Idea What Life Is Like At 1 Month Post Op --
My stomach was swollen for the first 6-7 days. And back to normal after that : )
